Will those advanced features like ADAS and AutoPark of the XEV 9e be practical in Indian traffic conditions?

Mahindra XEV 9e is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and other such features like AutoPark, which are relatively new to Indian automotive market. These technologies have been useful in more structured driving environments, but remain to be tested in full in India's chaotic and unpredictable traffic. When it comes to Indian roads, there are unmarked lanes, frequent pedestrian crossings and a variety of vehicles from two wheelers to heavy trucks. Such diverse conditions call into question how effective features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and automated parking are. Additionally, the Indian drivers' habit of breaking traffic rules and the presence of unconventional driving style may lead to confusion or overwhelm of these systems. Thus the practicality of these features also depends on how well they can adapt to local driving norms and limitations in local infrastructure. Whether these technologies have the potential to increase safety and convenience in Indian driving scenarios, and whether Indian drivers will trust and use them effectively, is still to be seen.

ADAS will be a game changer, I think, for highway driving. On long trips, it will reduce driver fatigue.

AutoPark looks like a gimmick for India. I doubt it'll be very useful, with our tight parking spots and creative parking styles.

Our chaotic traffic might be too much for ADAS to handle. Try to imagine it trying to make sense of a typical Indian intersection!

These features will be good to educate drivers on safe practices. It’s as if you have a driving instructor with you all the time.

I'm skeptical. AI can’t cope with our roads as they’re too unpredictable. In the end it could be more of a hindrance than a help.

It'll be a learning curve, but I think it's a good step forward. These technologies have to start somewhere.

It will be real value in emergency braking and collision avoidance. Sure, other features may not be perfect, but these could save lives.

The problem is that I worry about over reliance on these systems. Indian drivers could get used to it and become more casual with their attention to the road.
