Will the handling of the Electric XUV300 be as fun as the ICE version or will the battery weight kill the dynamics?
The current XUV300 is famed for its peppy performance and fun to drive dynamics, especially in the turbo petrol and diesel variants. The suspension setup on it is pretty well tuned – it’s not too firm, and it handles nicely enough. And now that the Electric XUV300 is on the horizon, there's a big question mark over how it will handle. Because the battery pack is below floor level it can mean that there is a lower center of gravity resulting in improved vehicle stability. But they can also be heavier overall, something that may bleed over into weight and agility and cornering ability. We’ve seen Mahindra working on their electric powertrains, with impressive performance from the XUV400, but can they keep the fun factor that made the ICE XUV300 a hit with enthusiasts? It's a big one, particularly for folks who like to have a little fun on the twisty bits or throw the car around in city traffic.
I believe the Electric XUV300 might actually be better to drive. The battery pack should give the car a low center of gravity that could make it more planted in corners.
