What will the Mahindra XEV 9e’s rear wheel drive setup do for the EV driving experience in India?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views8 comments
Unlike most electric vehicles in the Indian market, the Mahindra XEV 9e's rear wheel drive (RWD) configuration is a departure from the front wheel drive or all wheel drive typical of such solutions. The selection of this design choice has generated conversation about what it may mean for the driving experience and performance characteristics of the vehicle. Performance and luxury vehicle users often look for better weight distribution and seem willing to sacrifice comfort for it. But it also begs the question about traction in wet conditions and ease of driving for less experienced drivers, both of which are important in India, where driving conditions vary greatly. Its introduction of a high performance RWD electric SUV in India could help turn the perception of electric vehicles from being purely practical, eco friendly options, to the exciting driver’s cars they should be. This change in the drivetrain configuration could possibly make Indian consumers re evaluate and observe EVs in a different manner, and create a new standard for the performance and handling in the electric vehicle sector.

Instant electric torque RWD? It’s a recipe for fun, but also for inexperienced drivers to get into trouble.

This could make people see EVs in a different light in India. No more boring golf cart stereotype!

We were worried about traction on our not so great roads. I hope they've got the traction control tuned well.

It's a bold move by Mahindra. They show they're serious about performance, not another boring eco box.

In crowded city traffic could be a nightmare. FWD can be maneuvered in tight space whereas RWD can not.

An EV that enthusiasts can get excited about, finally! Better handling and more fun in corners is what RWD means.

It might be too much for average Indian drivers. Wet conditions are tricky on RWD and we get some heavy monsoons.

RWD in an EV? That's gonna be a drift machine! Can't wait to see some Mahindra XEV 9e Tokyo Drift action.
