Is the VFR1200F being overlooked in the sport-touring segment?
Though the VFR1200F is packed with impressive specs and a reputation for quality, it hasn't made a splash in the sport tourer world. It was not as popular as some of its competitors, or even its predecessors. As such, discussions have been had about whether we are underselling the bike or failing to understand it. It's a hidden gem according to some, because of its unique blend of performance and comfort, and a dud according to others owing to lack of focus on key areas sport touring riders care about. The debate usually entails comparing the VFR1200F to more popular models, and why it didn’t grab the public’s attention the way it did. Riders talk about what it means to have chosen the VFR1200F over other options and if they think it should be more recognised.
Absolutely underappreciated! But it's a great bike that was overwhelmed by more traditional sport tourers. No one knows what they are missing.
It’s a case of the bike not quite fitting into any category perfectly, I think. It’s not a pure sportbike, not a traditional tourer. That confused people.
Honda's marketing didn't do the VFR1200F any favors, but it's a gem. It should have been sold with its unique qualities pushed more.
It deserved recognition, but yeah, those who ride it appreciate it. Such a capable machine, it’s a shame.
I chose it over an FJR and have no regrets. Ride is more fun and still quite comfortable for longer rides. Definitely underrated.
The problem was timing. It came out when adventure bikes were all the rage. It would be a huge hit in a different era.
I would say it's appropriately rated. The bike is a good one but there are flaws. Some people turned off the small tank and heat issues.
I think I’m in a secret club as an owner. I have everyone who rides my VFR1200F impressed, but it’s quite a rare bike and not many people seem to have heard of it.
