Is the Pulsar F250, in fact, the spiritual successor to the legendary Pulsar 220F?

For more than a decade, the Pulsar 220F was a special bike to Indian motorcyclists. Sporty looks, comfortable touring capabilities, and value for money were known. With that legacy in the rearview mirror, Bajaj has now positioned the F250 as its evolution. Does it live up to the hype and the nostalgia, though? Others point out the sheer lack of raw character and uniqueness that made the 220F so popular. However, some believe that it's more refined and more capable as a whole. The battle rages on forums and bike meets around the country. Even if you compare the two generations there are factors like engine character, handling, features and overall riding experience. Enthusiasts don’t care about specs on paper, they care about the emotional connection and the real world usability.

I owned a 220F for years and can say the F250 definitely captures that spirit. It's spot on for touring and the fairing design provides you with that sporty feel. Yeah it's more refined, which isn't a bad thing.

No way, man. When I listened I could really hear that raw, punchy character the F250 just doesn't have. The new bike is too sanitized, and it doesn’t have that special something that made the 220F a legend.

I believe we are looking at this in the wrong way. The F250 is not a carbon copy of the 220F. It's an evolution. A better tech, smoother engine, and still great for touring. They’re not trying to be the same, they’re carrying the torch forward.

I was never a newbie rider and never got to see the 220F in its prime. I've heard though that the F250 has a similar experience with modern amenities. Isn’t that what we want in a successor?

It’s the long haul of ownership that’s the real test. The 220F was a reliable, easy to maintain engine. If the F250 can do that and do it better, then in my book it’s a worthy successor.

We all know, nothing will ever replace the 220F in our hearts. However the F250 is a good bike in its own right. You have to judge it on its own merits, not as a comparison.

I’ve ridden both and the F250 is objectively better in many ways, but it doesn’t have that X factor the 220F had. The bike is a good one, but it’s no legend like the previous bike.
