Is the Maruti Tour M just a re branded Ertiga for fleet operators?

The Maruti Tour M is usually considered a stripped down version of the Maruti Ertiga MPV aimed at commercial buyers and fleet operators. The Ertigo shares the same basic design and mechanicals as the Ertiga, but with fewer features and more of an utilitarian bent. The move has kicked up debates on if it's a smart business decision by Maruti to enter the commercial vehicle segment or if it's a move to dilute the Ertiga brand. However, some believe it to be a win win situation for both, businesses get affordable transportation options and Maruti can increase sales volumes. Others worry it might mar the Ertiga's image as a family car. The debate is often about how to balance increasing market share and keeping brand perception in different segments.

Now, it's definitely a rebadged Ertiga, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. This move by Maruti is apt since they know their market well and thereby can serve both personal and commercial segments equally.

It's more than just a rebadge, I'd say. The Tour M is purposefully tuned for its intended use in a commercial environment—built to be durable and to have low maintenance costs. It's a smart move by Maruti.

It’s a cost cutting exercise, let’s be real. All they're trying to do is milk the Ertiga platform for all it's worth. It’s not very innovative if you ask me.

I think it's brilliant. Why reinvent the wheel if you have a good product? This will help Maruti to offer a reliable commercial vehicle without a big R&D cost.

It’s a rebadge, but of a different sort. The Tour M plugs a gap in the market for affordable, large commercial vehicles. This is a win for small businesses and startups.
