Is the Mahindra Supro Van the next big thing in food truck culture?

The rise of the food truck as staple urban cuisine, not only provides a wider range of food options, but allows the delicious to be portable. With the rising costs of larger vehicles, coupled with an increasing need for more efficient vehicles that are more compact in crowded city streets, could the Mahindra Supro Van find its place in this market? It's small enough that it could make a great tight space navigator and prime parking spot finder. It might be a boxy design which could provide a perfectly blank canvas for creative branding and customization. But there are some downsides to this. What is the adequate interior space for the functional kitchen setup? Can it take the cooking equipment weight? Would customers buy from a food business run out of such a humble vehicle? Here’s a look at whether this little van could be the next big thing in street food or whether it would be better used for more traditional purposes.

This is genius! If you’re looking for super niche, small batch stuff like artisanal ice pops or gourmet grilled cheese, a Supro food truck would be perfect.

No way, man. It's barely enough room in there for a hot plate, never mind a proper kitchen setup. If that was the case, you would be limited to like pre made sandwiches.

I could see it working for coffee or simple street food. Also, the compact size would be perfect for places where bigger trucks can’t fit.

For food truck operators, the fuel efficiency would be a huge plus. This could mean lower overhead costs for us, which means more affordable street food for us!

Some customers might think it looks a little too 'budget'. Today people expect a certain professionalism from food trucks.

Why not use it as a mobile bar? If you could fit a decent selection of bottles and a small prep area for craft cocktails.

The small size could work out perfectly for pop up events or festivals where space is tight. If you could squeeze a couple of these into the space of a regular food truck, you could.
