Is the Invicto's non presence of ADAS features sufficient to make it an underdog in the premium MPV segment?

Premium vehicles have been getting more and more advanced with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking. While there’s a premium positioning for the Maruti NEXA Invicto, making it the most expensive Maruti mid car around in the NEXA network, it doesn’t offer any of these advanced safety features. This omission has sparked talk of its competitiveness in the segment, particularly when compared to rivals that do have ADAS. There are those who say these features will be essential for a modern premium vehicle, and there are others for whom it is a question of absolute necessity in Indian driving conditions. It also delves into the question of having to balance between feature rich additions and keeping costs in check and the readiness of Indian infrastructure for such technologies.

For me, it’s a strategic decision. But by skipping ADAS, Maruti can keep the price competitive. If the market wants it, they can always add it in a future update. Smart move, in my opinion.

Let’s be real, most Indian buyers at this price point care a lot more about comfort features than ADAS. I don’t think not having ADAS will hurt sales much as long as it has the basics like airbags and ABS.

Maybe Maruti could have missed an opportunity here. ADAS could have been a good argument to pay a premium price. It’s not just about functionality, it’s also about perception of being a high tech, modern vehicle.

I honestly don't think it's a deal breaker. ADAS is a nice to have feature, but how much use is it in Indian traffic conditions? I’d rather have a reliable, comfortable car with good basic safety features.

It's definitely a miss. At this price, the absence of ADAS features is a bit of a downer, and they are quickly becoming standard features at this price point. A family MPV should be a safe place.
