Is the Hyundai Venue CNG's performance up to the 'SUV experience'?
Though the Hyundai Venue CNG variant is a better fuel efficient and running cost efficient car than its petrol counterpart, it does come at the cost of performance. This has stirred the reactions of car lovers and prospective buyers to argue whether the CNG version can give as much power to drive and dynamics to drive so usually associated with SUVs. Reduced power output and possibly an acceleration lag places added emphasis on CNG may make for some poor driving experience, argued some. Meanwhile some argue that the performance is more than sufficient for urban conditions. Expectations of SUV performance are a common topic of discussion, as well as bringing the balance between efficiency and power together, and how the Venue CNG fares when highway cruising or powering a hill climb. This question also extends to the larger topic of whether compact SUVs as a whole (and especially in their CNG avatars) can ever provide a real SUV experience or are they more or less high-riding hatchbacks that compromise on performance.
I've driven the petrol and CNG versions and, honestly, the CNG really doesn't feel like an SUV. It's slow and pulls in the inclines.
