Is the Fronx’s higher ground clearance actually useful or is it there for show?
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has a ground clearance of 190mm, more than what hatchbacks and even some compact SUVs get. The ride height is increased in this, and is often pointed out as a key selling point especially in Indian road conditions. But the debate continues as to whether that extra clearance actually offers any tangible benefit in real world use or is simply a marketing feature to give the car a more SUV appearance. Absolutely useful! I’ve driven over some nasty speed bumps and rough patches that would have scraped a regular hatchback. Indian conditions are a real advantage.
