Is the 5-inch TFT display of the Chetak 3502 TecPac useful or just a gimmick?
The Bajaj Chetak 3502 TecPac also gets a 5-inch TFT display that is becoming quite common in premium scooters and motorcycles. Apart from turn by turn navigation, this display also provides call and message notification as well as music control. Some scooter riders love the added convenience of connectivity, while others think such features are unnecessary on a scooter and are even distracting. But the debate stretches to whether these high tech features are worth the scooter's premium price, and whether they really provide any value to the riding experience. Then there's the issue of the durability, and long term functionality of these electronic components in different weather conditions, and in the life time of the vehicle.
I love the TFT display! Navigation and notifications are right there, which is super convenient, because I don’t need to pull out my phone.
It's overkill for a scooter. What I’d rather have is a simple, reliable display that just shows me speed and battery level. Less to go wrong over the long run.
The display itself is nice, but I wonder about glare in bright sunlight. Hopefully it is visible in all conditions.
I’m worried about distracted driving, but it’s a cool feature. While riding, do we really need all these notifications?
The TFT display is nice for the tech minded rider, but I can see it being a bit confusing for the older rider that just wants a simple ride.
I find it useful, and navigation in particular. No more stopping to check your phone to see where you’re going!
It's a nice to have, I wouldn't pay extra for it. I'd rather see that money spend on better range or performance.
