Is the 2025 Bolero still up to the task in the current SUV market?

For years, the Mahindra Bolero has been versatile yobster in Indian carscape: The combination of its rugged build and no nonsense approach has made it a legend. But with the feature packed compact SUVs and crossovers flooding the market, one wonders if there’s still a place for the utilitarian Bolero in 2025. We expect the upcoming model to be updated, but will that be enough to compete with the latest and greatest offerings? This question probes what makes the Bolero so strong, though if those strengths are still proving valiant in a market moving fast, or if the Bolero is now out of date compared to more recent, more matured competitors.

It’s a Nokia 3310 of cars – simple, sturdy, and does the job. Not everyone needs a smartphone on wheels.

The Bolero is honestly outdated. Mahindra should retire it and focus on its more modern offering, the XUV lineup.

The Bolero is still king for rural areas and fleet operators. It’s strength is its simplicity: easy to maintain, tough as nails.

It may surprise us with the 2025 update. The question is if Mahindra can modernize it, but without sacrificing its core DNA it could be a hit with both old and new buyers.

It depends on the market. In cities? Not so much. It’s still good for many tier 2 and 3 cities, however.

Because the Bolero has its place as long as Indian roads are difficult. This is built for our conditions.

The Bolero has to evolve or die. In a market that is changing rapidly, Mahindra can’t depend on nostalgia ad infinitum.
