Is one of the things missing from the Hilux which may put off modern buyers its lack of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)?

With automotive technology growing, many vehicles now come with a suite of driving assisting systems known as (ADAS) advanced driver assistance systems which consist of features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and automatic emergency braking. But Toyota Hilux models more basic ones and in particular markets often do not contain modern safety and convenience features. It is quite noticeable seeing as the Hilux is known as a strong and reliable vehicle. To some, the absence of ADAS keeps the Hilux honest with its deserved rugged, no frills roots; whereas others say it's a major oversight in an age of safety consciousness. Since the Hilux is usually a truck more traditional in the way it deals with system, let’s see if that still styles with an OEM that is not the norm when addressing traditional trucks.

It's a non-issue. When you remember that most Hilux buyers just want toughness and reliability, and not the latest tech features, it’s no surprise that painting an actual product for a virtual model simply is not a priority.

Without the ADAS, the price is kept low, which is essential for its target market: developing countries.

It depends on the use case. If you don’t need ADAS and are buying your truck for work or off-roading, basic models should suit you just fine. It’s a must have for daily drivers.

It is time Toyota got with the times. But the Hilux isn’t just lagging when it comes to convenience, it’s also closing the gap on safety with ADAS.

ADAS is overrated. Electronic nannies are important but so is good driving skills.

It's definitely a drawback. While a crash is never an option, automatic emergency braking should be standard equipment on all new cars.

That’s unnecessary for true Hilux fans. What is the appeal of the truck (truck)—simplicity and reliability, no high tech.
