In the same price range as Japanese bikes, how does the Continental GT 650 Mr Clean measure up in terms of reliability?

The 650 twins are Royal Enfield’s most modern offerings and they’ve been hard at work trying to shed the old reputation of unreliability. But comparisons to Japanese manufacturers, famous for their bulletproof reliability, are inevitable. Often, owners and those considering buying discuss real world experiences with maintenance, surprise issues and build quality. Others contend that Royal Enfield has improved a lot, but still cannot match the Japanese in consistency. Some others say their GT 650s have been as reliable as any Japanese bike they've owned. This ongoing debate also factors in the availability and cost of spare parts, and the quality of dealer service. Many riders are interested in how well the bikes age (long term reliability) and especially the chrome finish on the Mr Clean edition.

I've had mine for 2 years and have zero issues. As reliable as my old Honda CB650R.

It’s good, but not at Japanese level yet. You’ll see more minor niggles more often.

Japanese brands have fine reliability, but you can get hit or miss on dealer support.

I have a bulletproof GT 650. I think RE has really stepped up their game with this model.

It's a toss-up. Some guys have issues, other guys don’t. Luck of the draw, really.

It's solid engine, but I have had electrical gremlins. Still love the bike though.

Japanese bikes are boring. The GT 650 has character AND it is reliable enough for me.
