How will the Yamaha FZS-FI V3.0 perform over long rides?

Being a city commuter, Yamaha FZS-FI V3.0 is mainly marketed as, but many riders also like to go for longer rides with their bikes. But the discussion has centered on the bike's comfort during longer rides. Long distance comfort is a function of seat cushioning, riding posture, vibration levels and wind protection. The ergonomics of the bike are praised by some riders for city use, but the bike's highway cruising ability is questioned. Some have changed their FZs with aftermarket seats or handlebars to make them more comfortable. And how the bike's suspension fares over long distance on various road conditions is also up for debate. So let’s see how FZ owners and riders rate it when this bike is taken out of the city limits and on those weekend getaways or longer tours.

I've done a few 300km rides on my FZ, and it's not as bad as you think. It really helps with the fatigue when you are upright.

It’s fine for short trips, but beyond 2 hours my backside starts to complain. Stock seat is too firm for long haul.

I got a gel seat and it's a whole new story. Can ride for hours with no problems. It really is all about personalizing it to you.

For this segment, it's a pretty good bike. It’s no touring machine, but we can sure make 4-5 hour rides without too much of an issue.

It's comfortable enough, but there's no wind protection on highways. At higher speeds you get blown around a lot.

I find it comfortable enough. The trick is to get up and take breaks every hour or so. It's not made for Iron Butt challenges, but it'll take you there.

I like the low seat height as a shorter rider. It is comfortable in the city and on longer rides. It's all relative to what your body type is.

It’s a little bit firmer in suspension, which is good for handling but tiring on long rides over bumpy roads. It's a trade-off.

I’ve toured on mine, and it isn’t ideal, but it’s doable. Just pack light, adjust your expectations and enjoy the ride. Sometimes it's more about the journey, than it is about the bike.
