How is the Safari Dark Edition in Indian road conditions in comparison to other SUVs in the segment?

Built and designed for India with the local road conditions in mind, Tata Safari, including its Dark Edition, is one such vehicle. Opinions differ on how well it really works in real world situations versus its peers. Amongst some, the high ground clearance and good build quality make the Safari something they like driving on the rough Indian roads and sometimes off road too. Some say that other rivals provide a better ride or more sophisticated suspension. The body roll of the Safari is often debated, so also its ability to absorb potholes and speed bumps and how it behaves on monsoon season waterlogged roads. The Dark Edition's black finishes are also talked about for long term durability when exposed to harsh Indian weather and road conditions.

It's a beast on bad roads! The high ground clearance is a lifesaver in monsoons.

I think the ride is a bit too stiff, meh. The XUV700 feels more planted something like.

It's alright but it can roll quite a bit on twisty roads. Not mountain drive friendly.

It soaks up potholes and I love that. It makes city driving so much more comfortable.

Safari drives well but I wish it had better highway noise insulation.

Great for most conditions, but a pain in the neck in tight city spaces.

The black paint of the Dark Edition shows every scratch from our crazy traffic. It looks good but it's high maintenance.
