How does a Brera compare to other Alfa Romeos?

by Sukhmandeep Kaurover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
From the classic Giulia to the modern Giulia Quadrifoglio, Alfa Romeo has a long history of creating cars with unique personalities. As a relatively recent model, the Brera sits in an interesting place in the Alfa line up. There are some components it has in common with other models such as the 159, but it is its own thing. Owners with experience with more than one Alfa model might have some ideas of where the Brera fits in the brand's ethos. Does it still have that Alfa Romeo driving feel? How reliable is it compared to other Alfas? Do these cars have different ownership experiences, from maintenance to what people think of them as other car enthusiasts?

I have had a 75, a GTV6, and now a Brera. Among them, the Brera feels the least 'Alfa-like' to me. It’s good, but not quite the old Alfa magic.

The Brera, coming from a 4C, feels like a luxury yacht. It is comfortable, it is quiet, and it’s easy to live with. Less exciting, but more practical.

My 159 gets way less attention than the Brera. Great cars, but the Brera just has the extra something in the looks department.

I want my old GTV back. The Brera is beautiful, but it’s heavy by comparison. It's not the Alfa experience you're used to, there's more GT than sports car.

The Brera is a lot more reliable than my old 166. While it still has its quirks, it’s not the electrical nightmare that some older Alfas can be.

I have had a 147 GTA and now a Brera. The Brera is very much more of a cruiser. All the same, it doesn't have that hot hatch feel, but it's unique. Plus, it turns more heads.

I have owned a 156, a GT, and now a Brera and I'd say the Brera is the most 'modern' feeling of the lot. It's not as raw as the older Alfas, but it's more livable day to day.
