Has the new Verna traded off its fun to drive nature in the name of comfort and features?
In fact, the Hyundai Verna has had a reputation for well being peppy and fascinating to drive, notably in its turbocharged variants. But with each new generation, there are some enthusiasts who believe that the car is seemingly getting more comfortable, feature rich and fuel efficient at the expense of the sporty character. The latest generation introduces a whole host of new technologies and comfort features and with them, debates about whether these additions have made the car less engaging to drive. Others say the new Verna has become too soft and isolated, disconnected from the feeling of being connected that made earlier generations enjoyable to drive. Some argue the car has simply gotten bigger to meet the desires of a much broader customer base who put comfort and technology ahead of sporty handling. This discussion frequently includes comparisons to past Verna models and competitor vehicles considered more driver oriented.
I don't think charm is lost. If you already love the turbo variant, then the added features just make it a more well rounded package.
It does feel a bit softer honestly than the previous gen. The new one is more comfortable, but I miss the raw feel of the older Verna.
It hasn’t lost its character, it’s evolved. The new Verna is still fun when you want it to be, but it makes daily driving more comfortable too.
I think Hyundai has done a good job finding a balance. It's not hardcore as some enthusiasts might hope for, but it's more engaging than most of its competition.
You just pick the turbo version and it still has the fun factor. Definitely more comfort oriented is the naturally aspirated model.
I drove a new one and an old one, and the new one is less exciting to drive. It’s a better all rounder but not as much a driver’s car.
The new balance, however, is what I actually prefer. It’s still fun when you push it, but it’s also much nicer to live with on a day to day basis. Can't have everything!
