Does the Bolero Neo Plus make sense for urban areas or is it a rural product?
Traditionally, the Mahindra Bolero has been used in rural and semi urban markets because of its rugged build and utilitarian design. The Bolero Neo Plus, however, is an urban debate. It’s boxy, large, impractical for city driving and parking, some argue. But others say its big interior and comfortable ride could make it a good choice for large urban families or as a commercial vehicle for intracity transport. It also raises the question of how utility vehicles have been perceived differently in urban areas and whether the Neo Plus can fill the gap between practicality in the rural areas and desirability in the urban areas.
Actually, it’s pretty great for urban use. You can see over traffic from the high seating position, and the surprisingly tight turning radius is useful on cramped city streets.
No, it's too big, too unwieldy for city driving. You try parallel parking this beast in a busy market area. You'll be there all day!
It depends, I think, on the city. In smaller towns or areas with less traffic it could work fine. But in Delhi or Mumbai? Good luck with that.
You're all missing the point. The big urban family who needs to haul kids, groceries and grandparents all at once will love it. Not everyone wants a hatchback that is cramped.
To be honest, it doesn’t look like it’s winning any style points in the city. But for practicality? It's hard to beat. If you run a small business or need to move a lot of people at once, this is especially important.
In my city, I’ve seen plenty of these being used as school vans. It seems to work fine for that purpose. It’s just how you use it.
The real question is, would you be okay with being seen driving this in the city? It's not even quite a status symbol, with all the crossovers and SUVs.
