Could the Hero Surge S32 be used to cut down on traffic congestion in crowded cities?
In many urban areas, traffic congestion is a major problem that lowers quality of life and economic productivity and harms environmental health. The Hero Surge S32 is a dual mode design, and this provides an interesting potential solution to this problem. The fact that it can go from three wheels to a two wheel scooter could make it more efficient in terms of road space and parking lot space. This flexibility could also nudge more people to pick smaller vehicles instead of cars for shorter trips or last mile connectivity. Such a vehicle would, however, only be effective in reducing congestion if adopted at rate sufficient to cause a real change to the transportation infrastructure. If a sufficient portion of traffic could utilize the vehicle or such vehicles could be made sustainable or self powered enough to substantially lower their cost, they could help reduce congestion. The question is also whether the process of transformation could cause traffic disruption if done frequently on busy streets.

The idea is interesting but if congestion reduction is the goal I think public transportation should be improved.

That could be great for cutting congestion around schools and offices during peak hours. For the last stretch, parents and commuters could switch to scooter mode.

I fear that it will make traffic less predictable. What if a vehicle can instantly change size and speed capacity, how do you plan traffic flow?

Even the parking benefits alone could be a huge difference. Imagine parking in both car and scooter spots!

If cities dedicate lanes or zones to these sorts of vehicles, it could work. Otherwise, it could just become more chaos.

I'm not convinced. If it catches on, we could find ourselves with congested roads with Surge S32s instead of cars.

Absolutely! That flexibility could help more people give up their cars for shorter trips.
