Can the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory be ridden long distance?
The Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory is first and foremost a high performance naked bike, which brings superbike performance in a more upright riding position. But motorcycle enthusiasts debate whether or not it is suitable for long distance riding. Its relatively comfortable ergonomics are praised by some riders as better than full on sportbikes, while others decried it as lacking for extended tours. This includes seat comfort, wind protection (or lack of it), V4 engine vibration levels and the bike’s fuel range. This is also important as the availability of luggage options and bike stability at highway speeds are considered. When talking long distance, riders often compare their Tuono experiences to other sport touring or adventure bikes.

The weak point for long rides is the stock seat. In turn, swap it out for an aftermarket option and the comfort level improves dramatically.

It's all relative. The Tuono feels like a Gold Wing, coming from sportbikes. It's definitely on the sporty side compared to a real touring bike.

I find it plenty comfortable. Highway speeds are smooth on the V4 and the riding position is a good compromise between its sporty and relaxed.

That depends on your definition of 'long distance.' It's perfect for spirited day trips. If you’re going on a multi day tour you might want something a little more focused on comfort.

The biggest issue on long rides for me is fuel range. Breaking up the rhythm of a long journey is having to stop every 100 miles or so.

I’ve done 500 mile days on my Tuono. It’s not plush, but it’s doable. It’s all about taking lots of breaks and maybe even buying a better seat.

Comfortable? Maybe for a couple of hours. A dedicated sport tourer, however, would be better suited to real long distance riding. It gets tiring as you don't have any wind protection.

For what it is, it’s surprisingly comfortable. Long rides are way better upright than a sportbike. All you need to do is add a windscreen and you’re set.
