Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?

Future classic, no doubt. So weird it's got to be a cult classic in 20 years, like the AMC Gremlin or Pontiac Aztek.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?
06 January 2025 07:58
Forgotten oddity for sure. Strange enough to be forgotten, but not interesting enough to be a classic. People will see one in a few years and go 'Oh yeah, those existed'.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?

I think it's going to be a bit of both. For car buffs it will be that weird Nissan experiment that never really took off, but it won’t be a vintage Mustang or any such thing.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?

A true classic the Juke isn’t, it’s too mass market. Most classics have a special something about them, whether that’s amazing performance, luxury, or groundbreaking tech. The Juke is just... odd.

The PT Cruiser might become a classic of a sort: Remembered, but not necessarily remembered fondly or with any value.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?

I can totally see the Juke becoming an ironic favorite in a couple of decades. I can picture one being restored in 2045 and seeing it at a car show would be head turning.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?

The regular Juke? Well, the Nismo versions might become classics. Nah. The way it looks is too polarizing, and it’s not special enough performance wise.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?
06 January 2025 07:58
Whether it becomes a classic is a question of how influential its design will be. It could be seen as the pioneer of a trend of quirky crossovers.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?
06 January 2025 07:58
Future classic, because it’s a car that represents a certain moment in car design, when companies were experimenting with anything to get some attention. It’s less a desirable classic and more a cultural artifact.
Is the Nissan Juke's unique design a stroke of genius or a total misfire?
06 January 2025 07:58
You’ve got to love it or hate it, but you have to admit the Juke has balls. Nissan went full weird in a world of cookie cutter crossovers and I respect that. It’s so ugly it’s cute, it’s the pug of cars.
Is the Nissan Juke's unique design a stroke of genius or a total misfire?
06 January 2025 07:58
Genius? It’s more a drunken sketch that somehow got produced by accident. It was obviously designed by a committee of blind people who've never seen a car before.
Is the Nissan Juke's unique design a stroke of genius or a total misfire?

I think it's brilliant. And that's refreshing because it's not trying to please everyone. The Juke has personality in spades and cars should. That's the kind of design that ages well because it’s not influenced by trends.
Is the Nissan Juke's unique design a stroke of genius or a total misfire?

The risk that Nissan took as a designer, I appreciate, but it's a mess. It's all wrong, proportions wise, and they couldn't decide if it was supposed to be cute or aggressive. It's just too confusing to look at.
Is the Nissan Juke's unique design a stroke of genius or a total misfire?
06 January 2025 07:58
It's growing on me, honestly. Initially I thought it looked hideous but now I kind of dig its quirkiness. It’s like that weird art piece you don’t get at first but then learn to appreciate over time.
Is the Nissan Juke's CVT transmission a deal breaker?
06 January 2025 07:58
Absolutely ruins it. Trying to drive a blender is like this. There's the engine drone, no sense of acceleration, it sucks all the fun out of a peppy little car.
Is the Nissan Juke's CVT transmission a deal breaker?
06 January 2025 07:58
I don't get the hate. It's different, sure, but you get used to it and it is super smooth. And the fuel savings are very real. City driving is what it’s perfect for.
Is the Nissan Juke's CVT transmission a deal breaker?
06 January 2025 07:58
The CVT is fine for normal driving, but lacks any sort of sportiness, which is what you’re looking for. Nissan forgot the 'sport' in sport utility vehicle.
Is the Nissan Juke's CVT transmission a deal breaker?
06 January 2025 07:58
I've owned a Juke for years now, and I can tell you that the CVT hate is overblown. It's not the deal breaker everyone makes it out to be, but it's not perfect. If you just keep up with maintenance it's fine.
Is the Nissan Juke's CVT transmission a deal breaker?
06 January 2025 07:58
The CVT is a compromise, as is everything in car design. For what the Juke is, it works. If you want a sports car, you buy a sports car.
Is the Nissan Juke's CVT transmission a deal breaker?
06 January 2025 07:58
I test drove one and still couldn't get past the CVT. That's just how it works, but it felt like the car was slipping constantly. The whole experience got killed for me.
