Is the Mahindra Supro Minitruck CNG a 'profit truck' for small businesses?
27 December 2024 10:39
Absolutely! I’ve had the Supro CNG for my vegetable delivery business for over a year and it’s been a game changer. The fuel costs are way lower than my old diesel truck, I’m saving a ton each month. And I have been pleasantly surprised with the low maintenance.
Is the Mahindra Supro Minitruck CNG a 'profit truck' for small businesses?

It's a mixed bag, honestly. The CNG is cheaper to run, sure, but I’ve had power issues when fully loaded. It has trouble on inclines sometimes, which may not work out for neighborhoods featuring hills. On flat city routes it's ok, but not all terrain.
Is the Mahindra Supro Minitruck CNG a 'profit truck' for small businesses?

I’d say that’s kind of a case by case thing. It's really great for short urban routes. However, if you’re going for longer hauls or heavy loads, you may want to consider other options. The initial cost is also higher than some competitors, so you’ll need to weigh that against your own needs.
Is the Mahindra Supro Minitruck CNG a 'profit truck' for small businesses?

For a fleet owner, the Supro CNG is quite profitable. The main thing is to maintain your car properly, and to train your drivers. It can definitely boost your bottom line if you take care of it and use it correctly. It’s also a plus for lower emissions to get certain contracts.

Mine have just given me nothing but headaches. Breakdowns too often, poor after sales service and difficulty finding CNG stations in some areas. It was far from profitable for me, maybe I got a lemon. If you ask me, stick with tried and tested options.

For my courier service it’s been a decent performer. Not amazing, but reliable. The tax benefits and lower running costs of CNG are what give you the real profit. Just ensure you have good CNG infrastructure in your area before you commit.

I think calling it a 'profit truck' is a little much. It's a good vehicle, but not a magical money making machine. But, to see real profits, you still need to run your business efficiently. The truck is nothing more than a tool.
How does the Supro CNG perform in the real world in crowded city conditions next to electric alternatives?
27 December 2024 10:39
I’ve driven both and the Supro CNG is a breeze in tight spots compared to the BNG. It has lighter steering and impressive turning radius. Sometimes fully loaded, electric vehicles can be a bit heavy.
How does the Supro CNG perform in the real world in crowded city conditions next to electric alternatives?
27 December 2024 10:39
Electric all the way to power your city! It’s also way easier to zip through traffic due to the instant torque. It’s also cleaner (no emissions, less noise) for the neighborhood and the driver. By contrast the Supro CNG feels a bit sluggish.
How does the Supro CNG perform in the real world in crowded city conditions next to electric alternatives?
27 December 2024 10:39
There are many factors, it really depends on the infrastructure. The Supro is great in cities where CNG networks are good. More time on the road means quick refueling. If you have access to fast charging for electrics, though, that could be better in the long run.
How does the Supro CNG perform in the real world in crowded city conditions next to electric alternatives?

I use both and I prefer the Supro CNG for reliability. It's no range anxiety, and mechanics are easier to come by to work on it. In my area, electric vehicles are still a bit of a gamble when it comes to long term maintenance.
How does the Supro CNG perform in the real world in crowded city conditions next to electric alternatives?
27 December 2024 10:39
The Supro CNG is okay, but I’ve found electric alternatives much smoother in stop and go traffic. Regenerative braking is a game changer for city driving, and it’s so much quieter, which is nice for early morning or late night deliveries.
How does the Supro CNG perform in the real world in crowded city conditions next to electric alternatives?
27 December 2024 10:39
I think the Supro CNG is a good compromise. It's more eco-friendly than diesel, but it's not limited in the way current electric options are. CNG still makes sense to me for a full day of deliveries across a large city.
How does the Supro CNG perform in the real world in crowded city conditions next to electric alternatives?
27 December 2024 10:39
I used both, and I find the Supro CNG better suited to longer routes within the city, but electric better for short, frequent stops. The CNG engine has a little warm up time to it which can be annoying for several short trips.
Is the Supro CNG's bi fuel system a gimmick or does it really offer a real advantage?
27 December 2024 10:39
I think it's a lifesaver! I've run out of CNG in places without stations around. It’s got me out of sticky situations more times than I can count using the petrol backup. This is not just a gimmick, it is a real safety net.
Is the Supro CNG's bi fuel system a gimmick or does it really offer a real advantage?
27 December 2024 10:39
It’s honestly overkill to me. The petrol tank is so small that it’s hardly useful for anything above limping to nearest CNG station. I would prefer lots of range from my heavier CNG tank.
Is the Supro CNG's bi fuel system a gimmick or does it really offer a real advantage?
27 December 2024 10:39
For a fleet manager, it is a flexible solution. This offers our drivers the opportunity to accept jobs in areas where CNG may not be readily accessible. I think the peace of mind is worth the extra cost.
Is the Supro CNG's bi fuel system a gimmick or does it really offer a real advantage?
27 December 2024 10:39
It’s been more trouble than it’s worth. More points of failure means two fuel systems. The switchover mechanism has been a problem, and repairs are expensive. I would rather have a single fuel, simpler system.
Is the Supro CNG's bi fuel system a gimmick or does it really offer a real advantage?
27 December 2024 10:39
It's a nice to have but not a game changer. CNG stations are common enough in most urban areas that I don’t need to use petrol in most cases. For those working in rural or less developed regions it might be more useful.
Is the Supro CNG's bi fuel system a gimmick or does it really offer a real advantage?
27 December 2024 10:39
When I do long haul deliveries, I know the bi-fuel system will let me do routes that may not have CNG available. It’s not only about the range, but the capability to do a job, period.
