It's hit or miss with build quality. Some units appear to be very well put together, while others are ratcheted and panel gaps. Their quality control needs to be worked on by Mahindra.

In fact, the build quality of the Thar is actually pretty good for an off road focused vehicle. It's not a luxury car, it's meant to take a beating. You have to lower your expectations.

I think the Thar is fine in terms of reliability but the build quality doesn’t justify its price tag. For this much money, you expect better fit and finish on the interior.

I have had both the old and new Thar and can very confidently say that the new one is a huge improvement in terms of build quality and reliability. It's not perfect but it's improved a lot.

Where it counts - in the frame and powertrain - the Thar has good build quality. Its functionality and reliability aren't affected by some of the cosmetic problems people complain about.
