Discussions and Questions Mahindra Bolero - Page 8
So why hasn't the Bolero's boxy design changed much over the years?
27 December 2024 05:23
You're all not taking into account the cost factor. That would mean retooling factories and perhaps altering the fundamental structure. Mahindra is keeping costs down by sticking with the old design.
So why hasn't the Bolero's boxy design changed much over the years?
27 December 2024 05:23
Perhaps it has nothing to do with looks. The current design could be optimized for easy repairs and parts replacement. That's more important in the rural areas than looking flashy.
Could a few tweaks made the Bolero work in urban areas?
27 December 2024 05:23
No way, man. The Bolero is all about its rural roots. You'll just end up with some weird hybrid that pleases nobody if you try to make it 'urban'. Stick to what it does best.
Could a few tweaks made the Bolero work in urban areas?
27 December 2024 05:23
Why not? If it had some better interiors, a smoother ride, and perhaps a hybrid powertrain, it could be just the unique option city folks could use to stand out. There’s something about that rugged charm that urban dwellers might dig.
Could a few tweaks made the Bolero work in urban areas?
27 December 2024 05:23
Both of you are missing the point. But the real question is would urban buyers take the Bolero brand with changes or not. Cities are full of snobbery around car brands.
Could a few tweaks made the Bolero work in urban areas?
27 December 2024 05:23
Mahindra is already doing this with the Bolero Neo, no? It's just a more refined Bolero. The real test is whether they can sell it to urban buyers.
Could a few tweaks made the Bolero work in urban areas?

What a crazy idea: leave the Bolero alone, but make a premium 'urban edition' with all the city friendly features. A best of both worlds scenario: keep the original appeal, but test urban waters.
Is the Bolero's fuel efficiency underrated?
27 December 2024 05:23
Absolutely underrated! My cousin's fancy new compact SUV doesn't get as good mileage as my uncle's Bolero. It’s a simple engine and a light body, it just sips fuel if you drive it right.
Is the Bolero's fuel efficiency underrated?
27 December 2024 05:23
No way, dude. Today’s engines are much more efficient. A well maintained old Bolero can, sure, but it's not going to come close to the fuel tech in new cars. Physics doesn't lie.
Is the Bolero's fuel efficiency underrated?
27 December 2024 05:23
You're both right and wrong. It all depends on how and where you drive. In rural stop start traffic, Bolero probably wins, but on the highway, it loses. It's all about the use case.
Is the Bolero's fuel efficiency underrated?
27 December 2024 05:23
Longevity is getting forgotten about by everyone. The modern day SUVs are likely to have issues long before a Bolero will stop running fine and working efficiently. That's also a kind of efficiency.
Is the Bolero's fuel efficiency underrated?
27 December 2024 05:23
The real question is about whether the absence of features and comfort justifies fuel efficiency. I’d rather have a nicer car that’s a little thirstier and nicer to drive daily.
Why also does Mahindra keep the Bolero's interior so basic when the vehicle is so popular?
27 December 2024 05:23
All it is is the target market, man. Bolero buyers do not care about fancy interiors. What they need is a tough, no nonsense vehicle that will stand up to a beating. They would just add plush seats and touchscreens, to drive up the cost for features they don't need.
Why also does Mahindra keep the Bolero's interior so basic when the vehicle is so popular?
27 December 2024 05:23
I disagree. Rural buyers, too, appreciate some basic comforts. The interior is just not being updated by Mahindra, they are being lazy and cheap. It wouldn't hurt to have a few modern touches that may even expand its appeal.
Why also does Mahindra keep the Bolero's interior so basic when the vehicle is so popular?
27 December 2024 05:23
Both of you are missing the point. And the Bolero is so reliable because of the basic interior. Less electronics and fancy bits equals less to breakdown. This is not a luxury car. It is a workhorse.
Why also does Mahindra keep the Bolero's interior so basic when the vehicle is so popular?
27 December 2024 05:23
Mahindra is in a tough spot, I think. I'm sure they would love to update it, but they're scared to lose their core customers who have been using it like it is. That’s a classic innovator’s dilemma.
Why also does Mahindra keep the Bolero's interior so basic when the vehicle is so popular?

You guys seen the Bolero Neo? That's Mahindra's answer to the debate. Provide the die hards with the old Bolero and a more modern version for those who want it. Smart move, if you ask me.
Is the perception that the Mahindra Bolero is an unsafe vehicle, or is it actually?
27 December 2024 05:23
The Bolero may not be winning any safety awards, but it's not a death trap. This is a solid build, and it can take a beating that would total smaller cars. Sometimes simple is safer.
Is the perception that the Mahindra Bolero is an unsafe vehicle, or is it actually?
27 December 2024 05:23
Are you kidding? Base models, no airbags, no ABS - that’s not just unsafe, that’s irresponsible in 2024. Safety doesn't come from being tough. It requires a serious safety upgrade.
Is the perception that the Mahindra Bolero is an unsafe vehicle, or is it actually?
27 December 2024 05:23
You're both making it too simple. It’s not just about features, it’s about how the vehicle behaves in a crash. Anyone seen actual crash test results for the Bolero? That's what we should be seeing.
