The Beast is the perfect evolution of the GT. It has all the power, but it can be tamed when you need it to be. Best of both worlds.

It's a beast when you don't want it to be and refined when you do. That’s what makes it so special; it’s got multiple personalities.

I can say as an owner of both the R and the GT, the GT is just as beastly but more usable day to day. This is a beast you can live with.

It’s still very much a beast the moment you twist the throttle. The touring bits just help you enjoy it for longer.

I find it too refined. What I want is a bike that scares me a little. It is fast, but no longer does it have that raw edge.

Mine I use for commuting, and it's rather docile in urban mode. The real benefit is that you can sit more upright and enjoy the comfort of the ergonomics in comparison with pure sportbikes.

Commuting definitely requires overkill. In city traffic you'll never use even half its potential. It’s also expensive to maintain and insure. Go get something more practical for daily use.

I would say it depends on how long your commute is. It’s amazing if you have a mix of highway and twisties. It's a bit much for pure city riding, but still doable.

It's overkill for pure commuting. If you want one bike that can do it all, though, commute, tour, and carve canyons on weekends, the GT is hard to beat.
