Is the KTM Super Duke GT too civilized to live up to its "Beast" reputation?
For some time now, KTM has positioned the Super Duke series as 'The Beast,' with its raw power and aggressive nature. But the GT version throws in touring capabilities and comfort features. Riders have been debating whether the GT tames the wild character of its naked sibling too much in the name of versatility. Others argue that the weight and touring-oriented ergonomics dilute the visceral experience that made the original Super Duke so well known. Others say the GT's the perfect blend of performance and practicality. The question remains: So, does the Super Duke GT live up to "The Beast" thrills, or has it become too civilized for hardcore sport bike enthusiasts?
It’s still a beast, but a more versatile one. Push a button, and the GT will go from comfortable tourer to corner–carving monster.
Nope, it lost that edge that made the original Super Duke special. Its teeth have become dulled by too many creature comforts.
The Beast is the perfect evolution of the GT. It has all the power, but it can be tamed when you need it to be. Best of both worlds.
It's a beast when you don't want it to be and refined when you do. That’s what makes it so special; it’s got multiple personalities.
I can say as an owner of both the R and the GT, the GT is just as beastly but more usable day to day. This is a beast you can live with.
It’s still very much a beast the moment you twist the throttle. The touring bits just help you enjoy it for longer.
I find it too refined. What I want is a bike that scares me a little. It is fast, but no longer does it have that raw edge.
