What’s the difference between the KTM Super Duke GT and other adventure bikes for long-distance touring?
The Super Duke GT is being marketed as a sport tourer that combines high performance with long-range comfort. But long-distance touring has traditionally been dominated by adventure bikes such as the BMW R1250GS or even KTM's own 1290 Super Adventure. While the GT is a more sporty riding position and performance-oriented road, it lacks the off-road capability and wind protection of usual adventure tourers. While it doesn’t have the electronic suspension, heated grips, and luggage that touring features require, it does. But the question is whether the GT's better on-road performance and handling compensate for its possible lack of comfort and versatility over long distances when compared to adventure bikes.
If you stick to paved roads, the GT is way better for touring. Twisties are more fun and are more comfortable at high speeds than most ADV bikes.
