Is the Kia EV6 worth the money?
03 January 2025 12:01
It’s been over a year since I first got my EV6 and the build quality has been great. No rattles or squeaks or loose panels. The materials feel premium and everything has been able to tolerate daily use just fine. I think it is definitely worth the price.

I found overall quality good, but there is also inconsistency. Other than that, door panels and dashboard materials are good, some of the lower plastics are on the cheap side. It's not quite on the order of Audi or BMW in terms of fit and finish.

From a Tesla Model 3, I can say that the EV6 build quality is better. The interior feels more solidly put together, the paint quality is excellent and the panel gaps are consistent. It's perceived quality, which is not a step up.

I’ve had a few minor issues with my EV6, nothing major, but enough to make me question the reliability. A couple of times the infotainment system has frozen and I’ve also experience some trouble with the power liftgate. But Kia's been good about fixing things under warranty.
Is the Kia EV6 worth the money?

I’ve owned a few premium cars, and I would say the EV6 is almost there, but not quite. It's top notch design and tech, but you can still tell that Kia is new to the premium game. Now, that said, this is incredibly close for a first attempt at this price point.
Is Kia EV6's handling as good as they say it is?
03 January 2025 12:01
Absolutely! From a 2015 Camry, the difference is night and day. The EV6 corners like it’s on rails and the instant torque makes it feel very responsive. It's not good 'for an SUV'... it actually handles well, full stop.
Is Kia EV6's handling as good as they say it is?

I don’t think it’s getting overhyped a bit. Yes, it handles well as an electric SUV, but don’t go crazy: it’s not a sports car. The steering is exact but lacks some feedback, but there’s still the weight of the batteries in tight corners.

I’ve driven both the EV6 and Tesla Model Y and would give the edge to the EV6 in handling. On twisty roads, it feels more planted and more confidence inspiring. It really does make a difference having the low center of gravity.
Is Kia EV6's handling as good as they say it is?

When I first read about it though, I was quite skeptical, but after test driving the EV6 I was genuinely impressed. It's sharp handling and the car feels much smaller, much more agile than it looks. It’s no Porsche, but for a family EV, it’s actually surprisingly fun.

The handling is good, but I feel the ride comfort is too much of a trade off for everyone. The firm suspension also gives it a sporty feel, but that can be a little harsh on rough roads. Enthusiasts will love it, but comfort seekers may not.
Is the Kia EV6’s infotainment system what it should be?
03 January 2025 12:01
I’ll give the infotainment system a thumbs up overall too. The interface is fairly intuitive and the screen is a responsive one. What I especially love about the home screen are the customizable widgets. It's not perfect, but it works, and you won't be too frustrated.
Is the Kia EV6’s infotainment system what it should be?
03 January 2025 12:01
I am a bit disappointed, honestly. The EV6's system feels a step behind what one would expect to come from a Tesla. Sometimes the UI is cluttered, and some things are more taps than they should be. Plus, there are no built in streaming apps.
Is the Kia EV6’s infotainment system what it should be?

If you’re not super tech savvy, I actually like the EV6’s infotainment. There is a good balance between functionality and simplicity. In my book, physical buttons for climate control is a huge plus.
Is the Kia EV6’s infotainment system what it should be?

Everything is okay, but not amazing. What Kia offers is definitely better than what it did a few years ago, but it still lags behind some competitors. The navigation isn't perfect and I've seen occasional lag. However, the integration with Android Auto is a seamless one.
Is the Kia EV6’s infotainment system what it should be?

I feel people are too harsh on it. It’s not as flashy as some of the others, but it’s reliable, and it gets regular updates. Voice commands are surprisingly good, and split screen functionality is really useful on long trips.
Is the Kia EV6 a practical family car?
03 January 2025 12:01
Now, our EV6 has been our main family car for a year or so, and it's been great. It’s surprisingly spacious in the back seat; we can fit two car seats. Not huge, but decent trunk space. No problem with our weekly Costco runs.
Is the Kia EV6 a practical family car?

The EV6 is a mixed bag for family use, I find. The interior is spacious, but the angled roof is difficult to pile bulky things into. There’s also a missed opportunity for extra storage without a front trunk (frunk).
Is the Kia EV6 a practical family car?

I have three kids, and I was skeptical, but the EV6 was more practical than I thought it would be. The back flat floor is great for kids and the materials look durable enough to survive spills and messes. My only complaint is that there is not much to see out the rear window.
Is the Kia EV6 a practical family car?

We've had a fantastic family car. It’s good enough for what we need on a daily basis, and fast charging makes longer trips possible. I love the safety features and the kids love the panoramic roof. But the rear doors don't open quite as wide for easier car seat access.

I was worried I would not be happy stepping down from a minivan to the EV6, but it's been easy. Sure, it's not as cavernous, but it's still practical enough, and way more fun to drive. The biggest change was wrapping my mind around how to pack more efficiently for road trips.
