Is the Kia EV6 worth the money?

The price of the Kia EV6 is what puts it in the company with some premium brands, a big jump up from Kia's traditional market position. This begs the question: does the higher price point mean build quality also matches that? We'll take in owner feedback on the fit and finish, material quality and durability of the EV6. Are there common problems or complaints that are appearing? And how does it compare to other electric vehicles that cost about the same from other established luxury brands? We’ll also look at Kia’s track record with EVs and what this could mean for long term reliability. Is the EV6 a truly premium experience for buyers who are looking to buy their first premium vehicle, or does it fall short of the price tag at some point?

It’s been over a year since I first got my EV6 and the build quality has been great. No rattles or squeaks or loose panels. The materials feel premium and everything has been able to tolerate daily use just fine. I think it is definitely worth the price.

I found overall quality good, but there is also inconsistency. Other than that, door panels and dashboard materials are good, some of the lower plastics are on the cheap side. It's not quite on the order of Audi or BMW in terms of fit and finish.

From a Tesla Model 3, I can say that the EV6 build quality is better. The interior feels more solidly put together, the paint quality is excellent and the panel gaps are consistent. It's perceived quality, which is not a step up.

I’ve had a few minor issues with my EV6, nothing major, but enough to make me question the reliability. A couple of times the infotainment system has frozen and I’ve also experience some trouble with the power liftgate. But Kia's been good about fixing things under warranty.

I’ve owned a few premium cars, and I would say the EV6 is almost there, but not quite. It's top notch design and tech, but you can still tell that Kia is new to the premium game. Now, that said, this is incredibly close for a first attempt at this price point.
