Is the Verna's ADAS system actually useful in the Indian driving conditions?

The ADAS has been surprisingly useful, especially on the highway. It’s not perfect, but it does make long drives less fatiguing.

To me, ADAS in India is just a gimmick. These systems can’t work reliably because our roads are too unpredictable. And I'd rather pay less and have a car without it.

It's a mixed bag. Adaptive cruise control is great on expressways, but lane keep assist is pretty useless in city traffic.

I think it's a good step in the right direction. It’s not perfect for Indian conditions, but it will improve with time. We have to start somewhere.

At first I was skeptical but automatic emergency braking has saved me from a couple of close calls from suddenly stopping cars.
Is the Verna's ADAS system actually useful in the Indian driving conditions?
03 January 2025 07:34
It’s good, but I think some drivers may become too dependent on it. It’s not a replacement for attentive driving; it’s an assistant.

The ADAS works fine, but I'm not sure it's a cost worth paying. I'd prefer to have a lower spec Verna and save some money.
Has the new Verna traded off its fun to drive nature in the name of comfort and features?

I don't think charm is lost. If you already love the turbo variant, then the added features just make it a more well rounded package.

It does feel a bit softer honestly than the previous gen. The new one is more comfortable, but I miss the raw feel of the older Verna.

It hasn’t lost its character, it’s evolved. The new Verna is still fun when you want it to be, but it makes daily driving more comfortable too.

I think Hyundai has done a good job finding a balance. It's not hardcore as some enthusiasts might hope for, but it's more engaging than most of its competition.

You just pick the turbo version and it still has the fun factor. Definitely more comfort oriented is the naturally aspirated model.

I drove a new one and an old one, and the new one is less exciting to drive. It’s a better all rounder but not as much a driver’s car.

The new balance, however, is what I actually prefer. It’s still fun when you push it, but it’s also much nicer to live with on a day to day basis. Can't have everything!
Is the new Hyundai Verna too polarizing design?
03 January 2025 07:34
The new design is awesome, I think! Well, it’s about time someone shook up the boring sedan market. Look, not everyone is going to like it, but at least it's not another cookie cutter car.
Is the new Hyundai Verna too polarizing design?

Honestly, I'm not a fan. It seems like it's overdoing it to be futuristic. I like a more timeless design that is not going to look dated in a couple of years.
Is the new Hyundai Verna too polarizing design?

The design is growing on me. First I thought it was too much but now I like it because it stands out on the road. I will say it’s definitely a head turner!
Is the new Hyundai Verna too polarizing design?

I’m concerned about practicality. While those sleek lines may look cool, how about visibility? Imagine if those complex LED lights break, and then you try to repair them.
Is the new Hyundai Verna too polarizing design?
03 January 2025 07:34
It’s definitely polarizing, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. That’s how car design evolves — Hyundai is taking risks. Anyone remember the first-gen Sonata and how 'weird' it looked? It’s now considered a classic.
Is the new Hyundai Verna too polarizing design?

It might be a little much for some, but I think it will age well. That's a hard balance to strike, but without being gimmicky, it's also futuristic.
