Does Hyundai Nexo's autonomous driving capability measure up to the hype?

I’d say it’s a really good safety feature, especially if you’re doing a long highway drive. It helps reduce fatigue.
Does Hyundai Nexo's autonomous driving capability measure up to the hype?
02 January 2025 12:16
It’s promising technology, but I’m not sure I trust it enough to actually relax while driving.
Does Hyundai Nexo's autonomous driving capability measure up to the hype?
02 January 2025 12:16
It's cool tech, but I don't want people to depend on it too much and not pay attention.
Does Hyundai Nexo's autonomous driving capability measure up to the hype?
02 January 2025 12:16
The Nexo's system is a little behind compared to some competitors. It’s good, but not new.

And I love it for stop and go traffic. It removes a lot of the stress from my daily commute.

Remote parking is neat, but it's not always reliable in tight spaces.
Is the Hyundai Kona Electric one of the best electric cars on the market?
02 January 2025 12:05
Absolutely worth it! It's been fantastic and I've had mine for over a year. Peppy acceleration, great range, and a whole lot cheaper to run than my old gas car. It’s compact enough for city driving and parking.
Is the Hyundai Kona Electric one of the best electric cars on the market?
02 January 2025 12:05
It’s decent, but I think it’s overhyped. While the range isn’t as advertised in cold weather, the charging speeds are pretty slow compared to newer EVs. Now you can get better options for the price.
Is the Hyundai Kona Electric one of the best electric cars on the market?
02 January 2025 12:05
It really depends on your needs, I think. It’s great if you want a practical commuter EV and don’t need blazing fast charging. It’s a good choice if you don’t mind a runt, but if you do a lot of road trips or want the latest tech, there are probably better choices out there now.
Is the Hyundai Kona Electric one of the best electric cars on the market?
02 January 2025 12:05
As a Kona EV owner, I’d say it’s a solid choice but not mind blowing. Though there's a pretty fair amount of intrigue here, it's not without its negatives – the interior is kind of low rent and the infotainment system is ancient. But for the price you’d be hard pressed to beat the range.
Is the Hyundai Kona Electric one of the best electric cars on the market?
02 January 2025 12:05
I drove one and was not very impressed. It felt like a basic economy car with a battery slapped in, and there's no frunk, and the rear seats are tiny. But I’d rather spend a bit more for something like a Model 3 or Ioniq 5 that just feels more ‘natively electric’ to me.
How has winter driving and range loss been on the Kona Electric?
02 January 2025 12:05
I am in Canada and my Kona EV has been great in the winter. Yes you lose some range, but it is manageable. A heat pump helps a lot and I still get 300+ km even in freezing temps.
How has winter driving and range loss been on the Kona Electric?
02 January 2025 12:05
Driving in the Kona in the winter sucks. When it's really cold, I lose almost 40% range and the regen braking barely works. Not so ideal if you have a long commute in a cold climate.
How has winter driving and range loss been on the Kona Electric?
02 January 2025 12:05
It’s not good, but not bad either. I would expect 25-30% range loss in sub zero temps. The bigger issue for me is how long it takes to charge in the cold (DC fast charging is way slower in the cold than in summer).
How has winter driving and range loss been on the Kona Electric?
02 January 2025 12:05
I think it does well in winter having moved from a Nissan Leaf. Heat pump is pretty efficient and the range loss isn't as bad as some other EVs I've tried. You just have to plan your trips a little more carefully.
How has winter driving and range loss been on the Kona Electric?
02 January 2025 12:05
In fact, I actually prefer winter driving in my Kona EV than my old gas car. Its instant torque and low center of gravity make it feel really stable on snowy roads. There is range loss, but it’s predictable and easy to plan around.
Is the Kona Electric’s lack of frunk a deal breaker?
02 January 2025 12:05
To be honest, I actually don't miss having a frunk. My needs are small enough that the Kona's regular trunk will do just fine, and I'd rather have more cabin space than a little front storage area.
Is the Kona Electric’s lack of frunk a deal breaker?
02 January 2025 12:05
It is disappointing, but not a deal breaker. Having a frunk is really useful to store charging cables or small things you want to keep hidden. This feels like a missed opportunity for Hyundai.
Is the Kona Electric’s lack of frunk a deal breaker?
02 January 2025 12:05
I had imagined that I would care about not having a frunk but after having the Kona for a while I don't really. In fact, most of my needs are more practical done using the under floor storage in the trunk.
Is the Kona Electric’s lack of frunk a deal breaker?
02 January 2025 12:05
I do miss having a frunk, as someone who came from a Tesla. Groceries or wet gear was great in it. One thing the Kona lacks, however, does make it feel less 'EV-like' in some ways.
