Is the Hyundai Tucson's ADAS system a game changer or just another over hyped feature?

The ADAS features on my Tucson are one of my favorites! Adaptive cruise control makes highway driving far less stressful. It’s not perfect, but it has definitely made my commute more enjoyable.

The lane keeping assist is honestly more annoying than helpful. It's always beeping at me or nudging the wheel. Most of the time, I end up turning it off.

I came to enjoy ADAS features as someone who was skeptical from the start. They do not replace attentivdriving, but the extra layer of safety is one that is reassuring.
Is the Hyundai Tucson's ADAS system a game changer or just another over hyped feature?

These systems are expected to do too much. They're not self driving tech, they're driver assists. Once I got my expectations in order, they were very useful, especially in heavy traffic.
Is the Hyundai Tucson's ADAS system a game changer or just another over hyped feature?

On rural roads or in bad weather, the ADAS in my Tucson gets confused, but on well marked highways it works great. It’s a nice feature to have, but it’s not a game changer.

But I’m also worried that these systems make people too reliant on technology. Drivers assume the car will do everything and I’ve seen drivers paying less attention. It's a bit concerning.

I really like ADAS options. They’re not perfect, but they’re getting better and better with software updates. Driving a car from the future… that’s how it feels.
Does the Hyundai Tucson's soft suspension curse or bless?
03 January 2025 06:52
I absolutely love the soft suspension. I take it on my daily commute on pothole riddled city streets and it's perfect. Why do I need a stiff sports car to get to work comfortably?
Does the Hyundai Tucson's soft suspension curse or bless?

I get the comfort angle, but I wish Hyundai would have offered a sport tuned suspension option. It doesn't handle as sportily as its sports sedan near field opponents which can lead to a little too much body roll in the corners, especially for those that are used to sportier handling.

This is not a race car, it's a family SUV. This is exactly what most buyers in this segment want: a soft suspension. If you are looking for something stiffer, try elsewhere.

I'm torn on this. I like the comfort, but, it feels a bit floaty on highway on ramps and quick lane changes. A slightly firmer setup might be a good compromise?

The Tucson's suspension is a dream for someone who upgraded from an older, stiffer riding SUV. Every time I drive over a speed bump, my back thanks Hyundai.

I believe it’s all relative. It’s perfect for areas with rough roads. However, if you are somewhere with nice smooth highways and twisty back roads, you may wish you had a bit more control.
Does the Hyundai Tucson's soft suspension curse or bless?

Great soft suspension until you load the car up for a road trip. It starts to feel a bit wallowy then. If only they had an adaptive suspension option.
Can the Hyundai Tucson's futuristic design pass the test of time?
03 January 2025 06:52
It's awesome design! It’s great to see a mainstream brand take risks. Yes, it might be dated in a few years, but it’s not another boring blob on wheels.

I worry about how it will age, but it looks cool now. Remember how some of those cars from the early 2000s that were over styled aged so quickly? I worry the Tucson will go the way of the Ford.
Can the Hyundai Tucson's futuristic design pass the test of time?

What sold me on the Tucson is the design. It was way more expensive looking than what it was, and now, a year later, I still get complimented on it. And who cares if it looks dated in 10 years? Anyhow, most people don't keep cars that long.
Can the Hyundai Tucson's futuristic design pass the test of time?

I'm worried that front grille design isn't very practical. If one of those hidden lights goes out, what then? It could be an expensive repair down the line, seems.

You have to love it or hate it, but it stands out. I like that Hyundai took a chance and made something different in a sea of look alikes.

I think the overall shape will hold up well, but some of the more extreme details will look a little silly in a few years. I’d rather have something interesting than another forgettable design, though.
