The size and confidence of the rider make a difference. The XRE 300 could be perfect for taller beginners. The seat height could be chopped short, making it difficult for shorter riders.

On rough roads, the Himalayan feels more planted. The XRE 300 has shorter suspension travel, which doesn’t absorb bumps as well as that of its larger sibling.

In my opinion, this is ideal for adventure riding, which includes both on- and off-road stages. It does neither of them very well, but manages to do both well enough.
Should you buy the Honda XRE 300 instead of the CRF300L Rally for long-distance adventure riding?

For long-distance adventures, the XRE 300 is the way to go. It's a tank built, and it has better fuel efficiency. The ones I've taken, on multiple 1000+ mile trips, have worked out just fine.
