Bajaj Pulsar RS200 - What do you mean by ABS & non-ABS?
18 April 2025 03:00

In the context of the Bajaj Pulsar RS200, ABS and non-ABS refer to two different braking systems that significantly impact the safety and control of the motorcycle. ABS is a system designed to prevent the wheels of the motorcycle from locking up during hard braking, especially on slippery or uneven surfaces. It works through an Electronic Control Unit , wheel speed sensors, and hydraulic valves that rapidly adjust brake pressure to maintain wheel rotation and traction. This system enhances safety by reducing the risk of skidding and losing control, particularly in emergency braking situations. ABS is beneficial for novice riders and improves overall braking stability, especially on wet or slippery roads. On the other hand, a non-ABS motorcycle relies solely on the rider's braking technique and does not have the automatic adjustment of brake pressure. Without ABS, the wheels can lock up during hard braking, which can lead to skidding and loss of control. While experienced riders can develop techniques to mimic ABS by pumping the brakes, this method is less reliable and more dependent on the rider's skill and reaction time. Non-ABS motorcycles are generally less expensive and easier to service, but they come with higher safety risks, especially in emergency braking scenarios.
