Is the Pulsar N150 good for long distance touring?
30 January 2025 09:16
It's all about managing expectations. It’s not going to compete with a 650cc+ tourer, but it can do long distances if you’re patient. The downside is the fuel economy is amazing and you can squeeze through traffic in small towns. It's slow touring, but that's kind of fun in its own way.
Is the Bajaj Pulsar N150 the hype it is made out to be?

I honestly believe the hype is deserved. The Pulsar line feels like a proper evolution of the N150. It’s a big improvement over the older models in terms of build quality, and the new features like LED headlight and digital cluster actually make sense. It's not revolutionary, but it's a good step up.

Nah, just another 150cc bike in a sea of others like it. Of course it looks nice, and has some fancy bits, but fundamentally it’s not doing anything that’s new. Our competitors could offer similar performance and features for less money.

However, since I upgraded to this one from an older Pulsar 150, I’d say it’s worth it. At all your motor refinement is immediately recognizable, smoother, feels more vital. Also, the improved ergonomics are a huge improvement on longer rides. It's not hype, it's actual improvement.

What I think most people are overlooking is reliability. The N150 has all the years of experience that Bajaj has had in perfecting the Pulsar platform. It may not be the most glamorous choice, but it probably will be one of the most reliable in its category.

The hype is a bit much. It’s a good bike, yes; let’s just not pretend it’s revolutionizing the segment. It’s an incremental update at best. If you already have a recent 150-160cc bike, there's not much to be justified in 'upgrading' to the N150.

From a value perspective, I believe it’s in the sweet spot. At a more accessible price point, you get most of the features and performance of higher end 160cc bikes. For many riders, particularly ones that are moving up from a 125cc, it's a perfect balance.

The real question is, how does it compare to the Pulsar N160? The N150 appears to eat a bit out of its bigger sibling. In my opinion, if you don’t really need that extra power, the N150 is the better value for money.
