How do things hold up over time on the Pulsar N150?

I’ve put about 15,000 km on my N150 and it’s holding up really well. It still looks like they just painted it, no rattles are present, and all electronics work flawlessly. It feels more premium than previous Pulsars I’ve owned.

I like it, overall, but there are a few niggles. The switchgear is a bit cheap and I've seen some surface rust on a couple of bolts. Nothing major, just not quite at Japanesque bike fit and finish level.

I worked on a bunch of N150s as a mechanic, and the build quality is a step up from the old Pulsars. I'm seeing less problems with electrical systems and the engine components seem more robust. It's not perfect, but it's better.

I've had mine for about a year now and it's generally good but the headlight always vibrates loose. It's a small thing, and it's annoying, but it also makes me think of overall attention to detail.

Being from a Honda I was skeptical, but the N150 has exceeded my expectations. After 10,000 km everything is still tight and well put together. My only issue was some fading on the matte finish parts, but that’s nothing more than cosmetic.

I think it's hit or miss. We bought N150s at the same time and my friend and I. He’s had problems with instrument cluster and some weird electrical gremlins, but mine has been flawless. I think there is some manufacturing quality inconsistency.

The build quality on this thing is great for the price point. It’s not premium, but it feels solid and well engineered. I've ridden it off road and it has handled the abuse without a single part coming loose or breaking. It's tougher than it looks.
What is the Pulsar N150 like for taller riders?

I was a 6'2" rider and pleasantly surprised by the N150. I do not feel crammed and the seat height is just right. I can flat foot at stops and the handlebar position is natural. This is one of the more accommodating bikes I’ve ridden in this segment.

I’m 5’11? and while not uncomfortable, I feel a little cramped on longer rides. I would like the footpegs to be a tad lower and more forward. For city commutes it's fine, but on the highway stretches I'm feeling it in my knees after an hour or so.

I think taller riders can ride it honestly its just okay. I'm 6', and I can, but it's not great. The main issue for me is the handlebar – it’s a bit too close and compels a slightly hunched posture. An aftermarket riser helped a lot.
What is the Pulsar N150 like for taller riders?

I was skeptical, being 6'3" but it actually works well for me. The key is the seat; it's long enough that I can scoot back a bit for a little more legroom. It’s also narrow enough that my knees don’t feel splayed out. For a bike in this class, it’s surprisingly comfortable.
What is the Pulsar N150 like for taller riders?

I think it has more to do with your body proportions than just height. I'm 6'1" with a longer torso, and the N150 is pretty comfortable. My legs don't seem too bent and I feel natural reach to the handlebars. It’s a matter of how well your body fits into the triangle between the seat, pegs and bars.
What is the Pulsar N150 like for taller riders?

I'm a 5'10" rider and it's perfect. My 6'4" friend tried it and he looked like a bear on a bicycle. Really, it's not designed for very tall riders. If you are above 6'2" you may wish to look at larger bikes or be prepared to make some modifications.

I'm 6' and it's not uncomfortable, but I did make a few tweaks. Replacing the stock seat with a slightly taller one made a whole world of difference. It was made for me, and now it feels like it. These smaller bikes go a long way with a little customization.
Is the Pulsar N150 good for long distance touring?
30 January 2025 09:16
The N150 is surprisingly capable, I've done a few 500km+ trips on one. At highway speeds the engine is relaxed and fuel efficiency is great for budget touring. The stock seat isn’t bad, but an aftermarket cushion makes all day comfort a reality. By no means is it a tourer by design, but it can certainly do the job.
Is the Pulsar N150 good for long distance touring?
30 January 2025 09:16
I wouldn’t recommend it for serious touring, honestly. It’s fine for short weekend trips, but anything longer than that and you begin to see its shortcomings. After a few hours, the lack of wind protection really becomes apparent and the vibrations at higher speeds can be tiresome. It's doable, but not ideal.

With a few mods, it makes a great budget tourer. I added a small windscreen, tank bag and saddlebags and it transformed the bike. The secret is to pack light and be fine with being more adventurous and minimalist in your touring. I love the challenge, but it’s not for everyone.
Is the Pulsar N150 good for long distance touring?

I believe it has to do with your expectations. The limitations will really make themselves known if you’re used to riding larger bikes. However, it can be a fun way to tour if you do it the right way. Because of the lightweight nature, it’s great for exploring backroads and tight spots that bigger bikes may have trouble with.
Is the Pulsar N150 good for long distance touring?

I have done a 2000km trip on the N150 and it's more than capable. The key is proper preparation – good riding gear, proper breaks and realistic daily distances. It won’t be nearly as effortless as a dedicated tourer, but it’s a good way to get into motorcycle touring without spending a fortune.
Is the Pulsar N150 good for long distance touring?

I tried touring on mine and it was honestly a bit of a struggle. It was frustrating to not have the power on inclines and fully loaded. And with the small fuel tank, stopping is frequent. For short trips, it's fine, but if your touring is serious I'd look at something with more displacement.
