Is the Pulsar N160 the safest bike in its segment as Bajaj claims?

However, I wish Bajaj had included traction control as well, because the dualchannel ABS is great. It would have really made it the safest in the segment. Right now, it's safe, but it's not revolutionary.
In real world riding, how does the Pulsar N160’s engine compare to the NS160?
30 January 2025 09:19
I've been on both and the N160's engine is definitely more refined. At higher RPMs it is smoother and doesn’t vibrate as much as the NS160. Compared with the N160, the N160 is definitely more comfortable for daily commuting.
In real world riding, how does the Pulsar N160’s engine compare to the NS160?

Disagree. The engine might be older in the NS160 but it’s more fun. In the low end it’s peppier and is great for jumping in traffic. The N160, however, feels a bit dull in comparison.

You're both missing the point. The engine of the N160 is better for touring. At highway speeds it is more relaxed and doesn't heat up as much in stop and go traffic. It’s the clear winner for long rides.

The NS160's engine is what I like best as a mechanic. It's easier and it's simpler to work on. Most riders don’t need the added complexity of the N160’s oil cooling system.
In real world riding, how does the Pulsar N160’s engine compare to the NS160?
30 January 2025 09:19
Truthfully, for most riders the difference is negligible. Both engines are good. Though the N160 might be a bit more refined, the NS160 has proven itself. It’s a matter of personal preference.

I think the N160’s engine is overrated. Yeah, it's smoother, but it's not character. Overall, the NS160 feels more like a proper Pulsar – it’s gruntier and more engaging to ride.

Fuel efficiency, you guys forget. My experience is that the N160 always runs better on mileage, especially in city riding. That's a big deal for a lot of this segment's buyers.
Is the Pulsar N160 a good starter bike for beginners?
30 January 2025 09:19
Absolutely! The N160 is perfect for beginners. Not too powerful to be intimidating, but there is enough grunt to keep you interested as you get better. The dual channel ABS option is also great for building confidence, plus.
Is the Pulsar N160 a good starter bike for beginners?
30 January 2025 09:19
I disagree. Even 160cc can be too much for a true beginner. One would better start with something like a 125cc bike. It’s more suited for someone with a bit of riding experience.

It depends on the beginner. The N160 is more than fine if you are a cautious learner. If you’re the type to get excited easily, it might be too tempting to push beyond your skills.

If I were an MSF instructor, I’d say the N160 is a good suggestion but not the best. It’s upright seating position and manageable power are good, but I wish it were a bit lighter for easier low speed maneuvers.

You all fail to remember the maintenance aspect. There are a lot of things I love about the N160, but one of the best is that it's a pretty reliable and easy to maintain bike (which is important for a beginner who might not know much about bike upkeep).

I began on an N160 and I think it was great. It’s predictable and forgiving of mistakes. All you have to do is make sure you start with the single channel ABS version (cheaper and less intimidating).

Most beginners don’t just want something that works, they want something that looks cool as well. The N160 that isn't too extreme. Starting out is a little bit of a confidence booster.
Is the Pulsar N160 all that it's cracked up to be?
30 January 2025 09:19
I honestly believe the hype is warranted. The Pulsar N160 isn't just another Pulsar, it's a complete overhaul. The older Pulsars had a rougher engine but this new one is buttery smooth and the power delivery is just right for city riding. Plus, the dual channel ABS on the higher variant is a game changer for safety in this segment.
Is the Pulsar N160 all that it's cracked up to be?
30 January 2025 09:19
Nah, it's overhyped. Yes, it’s an upgrade over the old Pulsars, but is it so much better than the Apache RTR 160 4V or the Honda X-Blade? I don't think so. Bajaj knows only how to market.
Is the Pulsar N160 all that it's cracked up to be?
30 January 2025 09:19
I have owned the old Pulsar 150 and now the N160, being someone who has owned both, it is a massive upgrade. The refinement level is night and day. All I'll say is that I agree, it's not revolutionary, but it's a real solid evolution of the Pulsar line.

The tech deserves the hype, but not the looks. I can't get over how generic the design is, the engine and features are great. Bajaj seems to have played it too safe.
Is the Pulsar N160 all that it's cracked up to be?

I believe people are missing the point. The N160 doesn't want to be revolutionary; it just wants to give you a well rounded package for a good price. And in that, it succeeds. It's hyped because it’s just right for many riders.
