To be honest, it's not built for off roading. I tried a few dirt paths and the bike just doesn’t feel at home. It’s too stiff suspension, not too bad ground clearance. This one stays on the roads.

Some modifications will enable it to take on light off road duties. I put more aggressive tires on and changed the suspension. It’s not a dirt bike, but it can get around unpaved roads and gravel paths pretty well.

I've done mine on some rural backroads and it does better than you'd think. It’s all about going slow and steady. It'll never be a winner in off road races, but if you're careful then it'll get you through.

I’ve ridden the Dominar 200 off road as well as the Hero Xpulse 200, and I can assure you the Dominar is not built for it. Rough terrain, standing up, it's too heavy and the ergonomics are all wrong. If you're looking for a bike to tour and off road, look elsewhere.

People expect too much, I think. It isn’t an adventure bike; it’s a sports tourer. With that said, it does pretty well on bad roads and light gravel. The only thing to be careful of is not taking it rock crawling or through deep mud.

I've done some mild offroading on my Dominar 200, and it's not great, but it's not the worst either. In fact, the bike's weight actually helps with stability on loose surfaces. But just be ready for some tight turns to get your workout.

Have done a 1000km trip on my Dominar 200 in the company of friends with 400cc+ bikes. It kept up pretty well, surprisingly. It struggled a little on steep inclines but on flat highways it cruised at 100-110 km/h without a problem.

I upgraded from a Dominar 200 to a 650cc bike and I can tell you the difference is noticeable. Touring is good on the Dominar, but the lack of power will be felt when overtaking or climbing hills with a pillion and luggage.

It's all about expectations. It won't match a 650cc bike in outright performance but it’s more than up to long distance touring. The trick is to plan your rides properly and not attempt to push it too far.

I had a mixed group of bikes touring with me and the Dominar 200 stood its ground. The relaxed ergonomics actually make it more comfortable than some of the larger bikes for long rides. And it’s fuel efficient so you don’t have to stop as much.

It’s a 200cc bike, come on. It will work but you'll have to work the engine hard to keep up with bigger bikes. Now, that said, it is a great way to get into touring without breaking the bank.
Can the Dominar 200 hold its own against bigger bikes on long trips?

The Dominar 200 is a bike that I think is perfect for Indian touring conditions. It's fast enough for highways, nimble enough for city streets and efficient enough for long distances. It’s not as fast as a 400cc+ bike but do you really need to go that fast on our roads?

I have ridden both the Dominar 200 and 400 on long trips and I would say the 200 is surprisingly capable. The biggest difference is in high speed overtaking and uphill sections. It’s more than enough for steady cruising, though.
