I am a 6'2" guy and I find this Discover 125 quite comfortable. I don't feel cramped, the seat to peg distance is great. One of the few bikes in this segment that fit me.

I'm 6' and on this bike I feel like a monkey on a tricycle. I always bump my knees on the handlebars. Perhaps it’s good for tall people with short legs.
What makes the Discover 125 Drum Brake uncomfortable for some riders and perfect for tall riders?

It's not about height, it's about proportions. I'm 6'1" but I'm just tall in the torso. The Discover fits me perfectly. You might have a different experience if you’re all legs.

Tall riders will be fine with the stock setup, but the setup gets much better with some mods. I bar risered and moved the footpegs back. It is super comfortable now even on long rides.

I think people are mixing 'good for tall riders' with 'good for big riders'. Yes, it's spacious, but the ergonomics are still the same as for a small bike. If you are tall and lanky, you will love it. Tall and broad? Not so much.
What makes the Discover 125 Drum Brake uncomfortable for some riders and perfect for tall riders?

Being a shorter rider (5'7") I find it funny that tall people are debating this. The bike feels huge to me! Perhaps it is just designed for average Indian height, and feels weird for anyone on the extremes?

I've had two different model year rides of the Discover 125 and I swear the newer one felt more cramped. Maybe Bajaj has played around with the dimensions a bit over the years. The mixed opinions could be explained by that.
Is the Discover 125 Drum Brake’s suspension truly the 'bone jarring' reputation it has?
29 January 2025 07:15
Bone-jarring? No way! It's firm, absolutely, but you want that for stability. I've ridden much worse. Probably people complaining haven't ever experienced truly bad suspension.

It's pretty harsh, not going to lie. My back is killing me after an hour of riding. Short commutes are great, but long rides are a pain... literally.

I guess it’s a matter of weight and riding style. I'm on the lighter side and it is perfectly comfortable for me. Different experience may be had by heavier riders.

It’s an easy fix, but the stock suspension is too stiff. I had aftermarket shocks in the rear and it rides like a dream. Best upgrade I've made.
Is the Discover 125 Drum Brake’s suspension truly the 'bone jarring' reputation it has?

It's a budget bike, folks. Luxury car comfort is not something you can expect. The suspension does a decent job for what it is. It's all about managing expectations.
Is the Discover 125 Drum Brake’s suspension truly the 'bone jarring' reputation it has?
29 January 2025 07:15
In actuality, I prefer the firmer suspension. But it gives better feedback from the road and feels more stable in corners. Comfort isn't everything.
Is the Discover 125 Drum Brake’s suspension truly the 'bone jarring' reputation it has?

The "bone-jarring" reputation is overblown. Now it’s not the plushest ride you’ve ever had, but it’s a long way from being the worst in its class. The firmness is good when you have a pillion or heavy loads, plus.
Is the Discover 125 Drum Brake braking system as inadequate as some riders say it is?
29 January 2025 07:15
If you know how to use them correctly, the drum brakes work fine. Even in heavy rain, I’ve never had an issue. The big thing is early anticipation and early braking.
Is the Discover 125 Drum Brake braking system as inadequate as some riders say it is?
29 January 2025 07:15
They're definitely inadequate. I've had some scary moments in emergency type situations. A disc brake option, at least on the front, is what Bajaj really needs to offer.
Is the Discover 125 Drum Brake braking system as inadequate as some riders say it is?

It's a trade-off. Cheaper to maintain and less likely to be damaged, drum brakes are the type of brakes. For day to day commuting they are good enough. But yeah, more confidence would be nice, and discs would be nice to have.

The drum brakes aren't the problem, people don't take care of them. They work great if you keep them adjusted and clean. They'll suck if you neglect them.

I upgraded to a front disc brake, and the difference is night and day. Best mod I've done. If you can afford it, it’s definitely worth it for the extra safety.
Is the Discover 125 Drum Brake braking system as inadequate as some riders say it is?

For a 125cc commuter, drum brakes are just fine. It’s not realistic for people to expect sportbike level braking. For its intended purpose, it stops well enough.
