Is the Discover 125 Drum Brake’s suspension truly the 'bone jarring' reputation it has?

by @ashutosh.kumarover 1 year ago0 views7 answers
Riders have discussed the suspension setup of the Bajaj Discover 125 Drum Brake very heatedly. Some like how it glides over rough roads, others were offended by how stiff and uncomfortable it was on longer rides. As a result, the suspension has been dubbed 'bone jarring' by its detractors. The firm suspension, which supporters say gives better stability and control (especially with a pillion or luggage) is the other change. However, critics argue that it makes the ride too rough for the segment, compared to some of its competitors. The debate also spreads to talk about Indian road conditions, the trade offs between comfort and handling, and if aftermarket modifications can solve the problem. Riders claim the suspension’s reputation differs depending on the manufacturing batch or year model of the bike.

The "bone-jarring" reputation is overblown. Now it’s not the plushest ride you’ve ever had, but it’s a long way from being the worst in its class. The firmness is good when you have a pillion or heavy loads, plus.

In actuality, I prefer the firmer suspension. But it gives better feedback from the road and feels more stable in corners. Comfort isn't everything.

It's a budget bike, folks. Luxury car comfort is not something you can expect. The suspension does a decent job for what it is. It's all about managing expectations.

It’s an easy fix, but the stock suspension is too stiff. I had aftermarket shocks in the rear and it rides like a dream. Best upgrade I've made.

I guess it’s a matter of weight and riding style. I'm on the lighter side and it is perfectly comfortable for me. Different experience may be had by heavier riders.

It's pretty harsh, not going to lie. My back is killing me after an hour of riding. Short commutes are great, but long rides are a pain... literally.

Bone-jarring? No way! It's firm, absolutely, but you want that for stability. I've ridden much worse. Probably people complaining haven't ever experienced truly bad suspension.
