Will the DB11 V8 hold its value better than the V12?
03 February 2025 11:11
The AMG V8 is a trust worthy engine any day. It is used in so many cars that by now any issues should be ironed out.
Will the DB11 V8 hold its value better than the V12?
03 February 2025 11:11
These cars are relative reliability. All are hand built and so individual build quality varies regardless of engine choice.
Will the DB11 V8 hold its value better than the V12?
03 February 2025 11:11
Though the V8 might be more reliable now, 10 years down the line, parts availability could be an issue, as this is not an Aston specific engine.
Does the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH’s road car heritage provide it with an advantage or disadvantage in WEC competition?
03 February 2025 11:05
It's definitely an advantage. They have already done tons of development on the road car. That’s a head start on aero and chassis design.
Does the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH’s road car heritage provide it with an advantage or disadvantage in WEC competition?
03 February 2025 11:05
No way, it's keeping them back. A road car based design will never be able to be as optimized for racing as a purpose built prototype.
Does the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH’s road car heritage provide it with an advantage or disadvantage in WEC competition?

The road car linkage is mostly for marketing. The race car, I bet, has very little in common with the street Valkyrie under the skin.
Does the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH’s road car heritage provide it with an advantage or disadvantage in WEC competition?
03 February 2025 11:05
Spare parts and repairs are worrying me. In a race environment, exotic road car bits are not ideal for quick fixes.
Does the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH’s road car heritage provide it with an advantage or disadvantage in WEC competition?
03 February 2025 11:05
The cool factor is being forgotten here. Another generic prototype will not get fans excited like a race car that looks like a road car.
Does the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH’s road car heritage provide it with an advantage or disadvantage in WEC competition?
03 February 2025 11:05
It's a double-edged sword. The tech is advanced for a road car but it also restricts their freedom to play with race specific solutions.
Does the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH’s road car heritage provide it with an advantage or disadvantage in WEC competition?
03 February 2025 11:05
I think it's smart long-term. Both programs will benefit over time from the tech transfer between road and race cars.
Does the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH’s road car heritage provide it with an advantage or disadvantage in WEC competition?

It’s a huge risk to be real. If it works, it could revolutionise top level motorsport for manufacturers. Exciting times!
How can the naturally aspirated V12 of the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH keep up with turbocharged rivals?
03 February 2025 11:05
Absolutely! The throttle response and power delivery of NA engines are better and more linear. That could be a huge advantage in tight sections and mixed conditions.
How can the naturally aspirated V12 of the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH keep up with turbocharged rivals?
03 February 2025 11:05
No way. The turbo engines have much more torque which is what you need to get out of the slow corners. The V12 will be left behind.
How can the naturally aspirated V12 of the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH keep up with turbocharged rivals?
03 February 2025 11:05
Peak power is not the only thing. The V12 might be easier to drive and could also be more kind on tires as it might have a wider powerband.
How can the naturally aspirated V12 of the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH keep up with turbocharged rivals?
03 February 2025 11:05
The Achilles' heel will be fuel efficiency. They will be pitting more often, thus losing any performance advantage they might have.
How can the naturally aspirated V12 of the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH keep up with turbocharged rivals?
03 February 2025 11:05
Don't underestimate Aston's engineers. They could have some tricks up their sleeve to make that V12 competitive on fuel without losing the NA characteristics.
How can the naturally aspirated V12 of the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH keep up with turbocharged rivals?
03 February 2025 11:05
This is a bold move that could prove reliable. A 24 hour race means fewer things to go wrong with fewer complex parts than a turbo engine.
How can the naturally aspirated V12 of the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH keep up with turbocharged rivals?
03 February 2025 11:05
It will be a fan favorite due to the sound alone. Sometimes that's worth more than some tenths of a second on the track.
How can the naturally aspirated V12 of the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH keep up with turbocharged rivals?
03 February 2025 11:05
I'm skeptical. LMH power limits prevent them from exploiting the V12's high rev potential to the maximum. They seem to be handicapping themselves with no real reason.
How can the naturally aspirated V12 of the Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH keep up with turbocharged rivals?
03 February 2025 11:05
That could be a genius move for balance of performance. An NA engine could be easier to adjust and balance against the turbo rivals.
