Toyota has announced that it will be discontinuing the Etios Cross soon, due to the implementation of new BS6 emission norms. This decision marks the end of an era for the Etios series, which has been a staple in the Indian market since its launch in 2011. I think this is a significant move, as it clears the way for Toyota to focus on more modern and environmentally friendly vehicles.

The Toyota Etios Cross X Edition was launched in 2017 with a starting price of Rs. 6.78 lakh, featuring aesthetic changes both inside and out, along with a new 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This special edition was aimed at boosting sales during the festive season. I believe these updates made the Etios Cross more appealing, but it still faced stiff competition from other crossover models.

Toyota introduced the Etios Cross Dynamique, a special edition of the Etios Cross, which was set to be launched in India. This variant included cosmetic tweaks to the exterior and interior, as well as a few additional features. The Dynamique was intended to revitalize interest in the Etios Cross. I think this was a good move to keep the model relevant, but it ultimately didnt change the overall market trend.

The Toyota Etios Cross achieved a 4-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test, highlighting its strong safety features. This included standard dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX child seat mounts across all variants. I believe this safety rating was a significant selling point for the Etios Cross, making it a reliable choice for many buyers.

Toyota launched the Etios Cross in India at a starting price of Rs. 5.76 lakh, offering a unique blend of hatchback and crossover features. The model was praised for its spacious cabin, improved ground clearance, and robust engine options. I think the Etios Cross was an innovative attempt to capture a niche market, but it eventually struggled against more popular SUV options.
