Overview

The Tata Harrier is a five-seater SUV that launched in the Indian market in January 2019. It sits between the subcompact Tata Nexon and the mid-size Tata Safari in the company’s car portfolio. The manufacturer introduced the car with new design philosophy, and it became the most popular C-segment SUV in the country in such a short time. Just after one year of its debut, Tata presented the facelift model of the Harrier in 2020 and loaded it with some sophisticated features to add to its premium feel. Let’s dive in to know all its specs and features in detail.

Tata Harrier Design

It comes with R17 two-tone diamond-cut alloys. Xenon HID Projector headlamps. 3D LED Tail Lamps with sporty piano black finish. A dashboard with an Oak brown colour scheme with an anti-reflective ‘Nappa’ top layer. Premium Benecke-Kaliko perforated leather seat upholstery & door pad inserts. The steering wheel comes with a grained leather finish, the gear knob is wrapped in premium leather as well. It also has an aero throttle styled hand brake. No idea how pleasing you might find the shark fin antenna on top. With additional features such as Global Close, Anti-Pinch and Rain Sensing Closure. The new ORVMs (Outside Rear-View Mirror) which are electrically foldable are like a cherry on top, not counting the fin.

Packed with 6-speed automatic transmission mated with the Kryotec engine to deliver exceptional performance. The Next-Gen Kryotec 170 Turbocharged BS6 diesel engine with 170 HP power and 350 Nm torque. It also has Multi-Drive modes 2.0 with ESP terrain response modes. It also comes with cruise control.

Pedigree of OMEGARC

Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture (OMEGARC) is derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform. For better driving dynamics it has a monocoque construction with optimised torsional bending stiffness. Keeping safety in mind the crumple zones are efficiently designed. Advanced high strength steel and tailored welded blanks are used for high strength and weight reduction. Auxiliary isolation panels are built-in for a quiet and refined experience. The isolated sub-frame has been tested for over 2.2 mn kilometres for noise suppression. Over 1 mn SUVs based on the D8 platform are already sold all over the world.

Convenience and Infotainment

Speaking of the convenience and infotainment functions in the new Harrier, it gets IRA- the connected vehicle program, 8.8’’ (22.35 cm) touchscreen infotainment with 9 JBL speakers, voice recognition with 26 native commands and 17.76 cm colour TFT instrument cluster, 6-way powered driver seat with adjustable Lumbar Support, ventilated seats in the first row, Wipers come with sensors that adjust to varied rain intensity, Reverse parking camera with sensors, passive entry passive start (PEPS) and automatic headlamps.
