The Nissan Micra Active Diesel has been discontinued from the Indian market, with the last recorded sales focusing on the petrol variants. This decision was part of Nissans strategy to streamline their product lineup and focus on more popular models. I think this move might have been necessary to consolidate resources, but its a shame for diesel enthusiasts.

In 2018, Nissan updated the Micra Active, but these updates did not include any mechanical changes to the diesel variant. The focus was on enhancing safety features and adding new convenience options like dual front airbags and rear parking sensors across all variants. I believe these updates were crucial for maintaining competitiveness in the safety-conscious Indian market.

Nissan India launched the updated Micra in June 2017, but the diesel variant of the Micra Active did not receive significant changes. The update mainly added intelligent features like auto headlamps and rain sensing wipers to the petrol models. It seems the diesel version was not a priority for these updates.

In 2016, Nissan revised the pricing of the Micra CVT automatic, but there were no specific price adjustments or updates for the Micra Active Diesel. This indicates that the diesel model was not a key focus during this period. I think this lack of attention might have contributed to its eventual discontinuation.

The Nissan Micra Active Diesel was known for its 1.5-litre diesel engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, offering a fuel economy of 23.08 kmpl under ARAI test conditions. This made it a viable option for those seeking better fuel efficiency. I believe this engine was one of the stronger points of the vehicle.

Nissan India had been working on enhancing the after-sales service experience, including an Extended Warranty Programme for the Micra, but this did not specifically address the diesel variants market performance. The warranty program was a positive step, but it didnt change the fate of the diesel model.

The Micra Active Diesel was part of Nissans lineup that faced stiff competition from other hatchbacks like the Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Suzuki Swift. Despite its features, it struggled to gain significant market share. I think the competition was just too fierce for this model to stand out.

In the past, Nissan had emphasized the Micras European styling and driving comfort, but the diesel variant of the Micra Active did not receive the same level of marketing push. This lack of marketing focus might have contributed to its relatively low sales. I believe a stronger marketing campaign could have made a difference.

The Micra Active Diesel was available in several exterior colors, including Brick Red, Turquoise Blue, and Onyx Black, among others. However, the color options did not seem to boost its sales significantly. I think the design, while appealing, was not enough to overcome other shortcomings.

The Nissan Micra Active Diesel was priced competitively, ranging between Rs. 5.25 lakh and Rs. 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), but this competitive pricing did not translate into higher sales. I believe the pricing was right, but other factors like features and marketing played a bigger role.
