The Mitsubishi Pajero, a stalwart in the off-road SUV segment, saw its production come to an end in 2021. This decision was part of Mitsubishis strategy to focus more on other models like the Outlander and to concentrate on ASEAN markets. The Pajeros demise marked the end of an era for a vehicle known for its ruggedness and off-road capabilities. I think this move was inevitable given the shifting market trends towards more road-biased SUVs.

In 2015, the Mitsubishi Pajero underwent a significant facelift, which included redesigning the bodyshell to increase its stiffness and adding LED daytime running lamps. This update also saw the rationalization of the model range, with a focus on high-level trims like the GLS and GLS Exceed. These changes aimed to keep the Pajero competitive in a market increasingly dominated by crossovers. I believe these updates helped extend the Pajeros lifespan but couldnt halt its eventual decline.

The 2007 Mitsubishi Pajero was known for its robust engine options, including a 3.8-liter petrol V6 and a 3.2-liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel Di-D. The diesel engine, in particular, received an output bump in 2010, delivering 140 kW and 441 Nm of torque. This made the Pajero a favorite among those seeking a balance between on-road comfort and off-road capability. I think the diesel variant was a highlight of the Pajeros offerings during this period.

One of the notable features of the 2007 Mitsubishi Pajero was its Super Select II all-wheel drive/4WD system, which remained one of the best in its class. This system, combined with the vehicles body-on-frame construction, made the Pajero a reliable choice for heavy-duty off-road driving. The systems versatility and performance were key factors in the Pajeros enduring popularity.

The 2007 Mitsubishi Pajero had a maximum towing capacity of 2500kg, making it suitable for those who needed to tow trailers or boats. The towing capacity varied slightly depending on the engine and transmission chosen, but it remained consistent across most models. This capability was a significant selling point for the Pajero, especially among outdoor enthusiasts.

Fuel consumption for the 2007 Mitsubishi Pajero varied between 9.2 and 13.7 liters per 100 kilometers, depending on the engine and transmission. The diesel models were generally more fuel-efficient, with the 3.2-liter Di-D engine offering around 10.5 liters per 100 kilometers. This made the Pajero a reasonable choice for long trips and off-road adventures.

The 2007 Mitsubishi Pajero was available in various body types, including short-wheelbase (3-door) and long-wheelbase (5-door) variants. The dimensions of the vehicle, such as its height, width, and length, also varied slightly depending on the model chosen. The long-wheelbase models offered more space and comfort, making them popular among families.

Mitsubishi introduced several limited-edition specials of the Pajero over the years, many of which received Legend badging. These special editions often came with additional features like a 12-speaker Rockford Fosgate audio system, Xenon headlights, and a wood/leather combination steering wheel. These extras enhanced the luxury and off-road appeal of the Pajero.

The 2007 Mitsubishi Pajero faced some common issues, such as problems with the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve. These issues were not covered under warranty as they were considered normal wear-and-tear items. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning the EGR valves and manifolds, was recommended to prevent these problems.

In terms of safety, the 2007 Mitsubishi Pajero received several updates, including redesigned light clusters, added side and curtain airbags, and an improved stability control system. These enhancements made the Pajero a safer option for both on-road and off-road driving. I think these safety features were a significant improvement for the model.
