Latest Updates
Thursday, 25 October 2018 07:51 AM Maruti Suzuki announced that the Omni would be discontinued due to its inability to meet new crash test norms. The vehicles flat front design lacks the structural integrity to incorporate crumple zones, making it unsafe according to new safety standards. I think this was a necessary step, even though its sad to see such an iconic vehicle go.
Monday, 15 August 2016 09:12 AM In 2016, the Maruti Omni continued to be a practical and versatile vehicle, serving roles such as a people-mover, ambulance, and courier-delivery vehicle. Despite its basic design and lack of modern safety features, it remained popular for its value for money and fuel efficiency. I believe its simplicity was part of its charm, but safety should always be a priority.
Wednesday, 20 July 2016 03:38 PM The Maruti Omni was available in various variants, including petrol and LPG models, with prices ranging from Rs. 2.08 lakh to Rs. 3.07 lakh. It had a seating capacity of 2, 5, and 8 seats, making it a versatile option for different needs. The vehicles 796cc engine produced 37bhp and 62Nm of torque. I think the multiple seating options were a big selling point for this van.
Friday, 10 June 2016 10:00 PM Despite its age, the Maruti Omni still managed to deliver a decent fuel economy, with an ARAI mileage of 14.96 kmpl for the petrol version and 10.9 kmpl for the LPG version. This made it a favorite among those looking for an economical vehicle. I believe the fuel efficiency was one of its strongest selling points.
Wednesday, 25 May 2016 11:06 AM The Maruti Omni had a simple and basic design, with a front mid-engine and rear-wheel drive layout. This design, although outdated, contributed to its affordability and ease of maintenance. However, it lacked modern comforts and safety features. I think the simplicity of the design was both a blessing and a curse.
Friday, 15 April 2016 03:55 PM In 2016, Maruti Suzuki was working on updating their models to comply with upcoming safety norms, but the Omni was not part of these plans due to its design limitations. Other models like the Eeco and Alto 800 were being modified to meet the new standards. I believe this decision was inevitable given the safety concerns.
Sunday, 20 March 2016 06:53 AM The Maruti Omni had a long history of reliability and durability, with many owners reporting low maintenance costs and faithful service over the years. However, its lack of safety features and outdated design made it less appealing to newer buyers. I think its reliability was one of its strongest attributes.
Wednesday, 10 February 2016 07:51 AM The vehicles suspension system, which included McPherson struts at the front and leaf springs with shock absorbers at the rear, provided a basic but functional ride. However, it was not designed to handle rough roads comfortably. I believe the suspension could have been improved for better comfort.
Monday, 25 January 2016 11:30 AM Maruti Suzuki continued to offer the Omni in various colors and with different fuel options, including petrol and LPG, to cater to a wide range of customers. The vehicles versatility was a key factor in its enduring popularity. I think the color options added a bit of personality to an otherwise basic vehicle.
