The Mahindra Xylo is powered by two diesel engines: a 2.2-litre mHawk motor and a 2.5-litre m2DICR unit. The mHawk engine generates 122 hp and 280 Nm of torque, while the m2DICR engine produces 92 hp and 218 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. I think the engine options provide a good balance between performance and fuel efficiency.

I think the interior space and comfort features make it an excellent choice for large families.

Despite its age, the Mahindra Xylo still offers competitive fuel efficiency, with the mHawk engine variant claiming 14.02 kmpl and the m2DICR engine variant claiming 13.9 kmpl. These figures are acceptable for an MPV of its size. I believe the fuel efficiency is a significant selling point for budget-conscious buyers.

The Mahindra Xylos ride and handling have improved over the years, although they still lag behind modern cars in terms of overall driving experience. The vehicles utilitarian interiors, while functional, feel dated compared to newer models. I think a revamp of the interiors would significantly boost its appeal.

Mahindra has not announced any plans to discontinue the Xylo due to upcoming stricter safety and emission norms. However, there are rumors that the Xylo might eventually be replaced by newer models that comply with these regulations. I believe its crucial for Mahindra to either update the Xylo or introduce a compliant successor.
