Mahindra XUV500 W11

About
The Mahindra XUV500 W11 is a refined and powerful iteration of the XUV500 series. It retains the same dimensions as its predecessors but boasts several cosmetic and performance upgrades. The vehicle features a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, which now produces 155bhp and 360Nm of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The interior is enhanced with premium elements such as tan leather quilted upholstery, piano black finishes, and smart watch connectivity through the Mahindra Blue Sense app. Other notable features include climate control, electrically adjustable driver seats, and a full folding option for the second and third rows. The XUV500 W11 also comes with a monocoque construction, which improves its dynamic capabilities and off-road prowess, although the ride quality can be firm on uneven roads. Overall, it offers a compelling blend of power, features, and space, making it a strong option in the SUV segment.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Mahindra XUV500 W11 is a significant upgrade in the XUV500 lineup, offering a blend of power, premium features, and a refreshed design. The 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, now producing 155bhp and 360Nm of torque, makes the vehicle notably quicker and more responsive, especially with the addition of an electric variable geometry turbocharger. The interior has been enhanced with tan leather quilted upholstery, piano black finishes, and soft-touch leather on the dashboard and door panels, giving it a more upmarket feel. However, the quality of plastics and some ergonomic issues, such as the gear shift and suspension comfort, still need improvement. Despite these minor drawbacks, the XUV500 W11 offers excellent value for money, especially considering its seven-seat capacity and robust feature list.
Price
The Mahindra XUV500 W11 is priced competitively in the Indian market. As of the recent updates, the ex-showroom price for the W11 variant in Delhi was around Rs 16.68 lakhs. On-road prices, however, can vary depending on the state and local taxes, but you can expect to pay somewhere between Rs 19 to 20 lakhs, including registration, insurance, and other costs. Given the array of features, the powerful engine, and the spacious interior, the XUV500 W11 offers a compelling package at this price point, making it a strong contender in its segment.
Latest Updates
Sunday, 10 November 2024 02:58 AM Mahindra has discontinued the XUV500, including the top-of-the-line W11 variant, as part of their model lineup adjustments. The W11 was known for its updated 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine producing 155bhp and 360Nm of torque. I think this move might be a strategic step to make way for new models.
Sunday, 20 October 2024 01:42 PM The Mahindra XUV500 W11 featured a premium interior with tan leather quilted upholstery, faux leather-covered dashboard and armrests, and a piano black finish on the centre console. However, the quality of plastics in the cabin remained a point of criticism. I believe this was a missed opportunity to elevate the overall luxury feel.
Sunday, 15 September 2024 05:17 PM The XUV500 W11 had a significant update in its engine, introducing an electric variable geometry turbocharger (eVGT) which reduced turbo lag and improved performance. This made the vehicle more responsive and efficient, especially in mid-range cruising. Its a shame this tech wont be seen in new models for now.
Sunday, 25 August 2024 02:10 AM In terms of safety, the XUV500 W11 was well-equipped with features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP with rollover mitigation, and hill hold and descent control. It also scored four out of five stars in the Australian NCAP crash tests. I think this safety suite was one of the strongest points of the vehicle.
Tuesday, 30 July 2024 07:02 PM The XUV500 W11 came with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options, both paired with the 2.2-litre diesel engine. The gearbox, though reliable, had long rubbery throws which could be cumbersome in stop-and-go traffic. I think this was a minor but notable inconvenience.
Thursday, 20 June 2024 11:44 AM The vehicle featured an advanced infotainment system compatible with smartphones and smartwatches through the Mahindra Blue Sense app. This allowed users to control various vehicle functions remotely. I believe this was a forward-thinking move in terms of connectivity.
Wednesday, 15 May 2024 07:57 AM The exterior design of the XUV500 W11 included updated tail lamps, a muscular ridge on the tailgate, and a new front bumper design. These changes enhanced the vehicles appearance without losing its original essence. I think the design updates were well-executed.
Wednesday, 10 April 2024 01:44 AM The XUV500 W11 had a spacious interior with large seats, though the quality of plastics was a recurring issue. The cabin also featured Arkamys-tuned speakers, but the audio quality was still average. I believe improving the plastics and audio would have made it a more compelling package.
Monday, 25 March 2024 03:56 PM Mahindra had priced the XUV500 W11 from Rs 18.84 lakh before its discontinuation. This placed it in a competitive segment against other SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Tata Harrier. I think the pricing was reasonable given the features and performance.
Tuesday, 20 February 2024 05:49 AM The XUV500 W11 boasted a range of convenience features including a remote trunk opener, automatic climate control, and a power-adjustable leather-wrapped steering wheel. These features added to the vehicles comfort and luxury appeal. I believe these features were a highlight of the model.
Monday, 15 January 2024 01:17 PM The 2018 update of the XUV500 W11 saw significant improvements in performance with the uprated 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. This update made the vehicle more powerful and efficient, especially noticeable in highway cruising. I think this update was a major step forward for the model.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 07:37 PM The mileage of the Mahindra XUV500 W11 is a crucial factor for potential buyers. With its 2.2-litre diesel engine, the vehicle is expected to deliver around 12-15 kmpl in city driving conditions and up to 18 kmpl on highways, depending on driving habits and road conditions. While these figures are respectable for a vehicle of its size and power output, actual mileage may vary. However, the improved engine performance and the addition of an electric variable geometry turbocharger help in maintaining a balance between power and fuel efficiency.
