Our take on this /// Verdict
The Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 Select is a compelling option for those seeking a balance between features, performance, and value. While it does miss out on some features compared to the top-of-the-line Z8 variant, such as dual-zone climate control, push-button start, and four-wheel drive, it still packs a punch with its generous list of standard features. The 2.2-liter diesel engine, in particular, stands out for its refinement and power, along with drive modes like Zip, Zap, and Zoom. The ride and handling have been significantly improved over the previous generation, making it stable and composed on the road. However, some may find the lack of certain conveniences and the slightly bouncy low-speed ride to be drawbacks. Overall, if you are willing to compromise on a few features, the Z8 Select offers exceptional value for money and is a practical choice for SUV enthusiasts.
Price
The Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 Select is priced very competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom prices range from Rs. 16.99 lakh to Rs. 18.99 lakh, depending on the engine and transmission choice. For instance, the petrol manual starts at Rs. 16.9 lakh, while the petrol automatic is priced at Rs. 18.4 lakh. The diesel automatic, as tested, comes in at Rs. 18.9 lakh. On-road prices in cities like Mumbai can range between Rs. 20.35 lakh to Rs. 23.08 lakh, which is still a good value considering the features and performance on offer. This pricing strategy makes the Z8 Select about Rs. 1.7 lakh cheaper than the Z8 variant, making it an attractive option for buyers looking for a feature-rich SUV without breaking the bank.
